Lovely folk behind counter. Fab pasties. Also: usual cakey & drinks offerings. Loo. Saw someone hire a motorised wheelchair thing so that's obvs a possibility too.

Updated on 25/5/22 to say: Cafe now operated by the Geevor Counthouse crew. They have shiny new proper espresso machine and fabulous coffee beans ground before your eyes The result is spectacularly tasty coffee which went very nicely with a date slice 😋😁 They are just doing drinks, cakes & crisps currently but hope to organise a wider range (including Pasties, yey!). They have only just set up & are still figuring out logistics....but in the meantime, worth a visit for the coffee alone 🥰 Lovely welcoming young woman serving too. Really glad they are there 👍 Updated 27/08/22: Still no Pasties or much in the savoury dept apart from crisps. Coffee still...

Only used the cafe for the loo and at the time we visited in January it was only open until (I think) 3pm. The NT carpark machine didn't recognise our NT membership cards so had to write a note and leave on show so as not to get a fine. We also downloaded the NT circular walk around the headland beforehand as, according to Which? Magazine, this walk is the second most popular walk in Britain but I can't recommend it as we found using the map very annoying and I think you would be better off just wandering around and exploring the area without having to keep referring back to it. The only other thing I feel worth mentioning is that the paths are very uneven in places paved with rough, sharp stones. However the views...

Used this as the starting point for a costal walk. I arrived around 9 am before the main building opened. Free car parking for National Trust members or £5 all day otherwise. You can explore the old mine buildings relatively freely as they are situated just across from the car park. There are couple of other buildings further down that take a little more effort to reach. The walk to Cape Cornwall and back took about 2:30h and is well worth it. Lots of great views and things to see along the way.

The cafe was open by the time I arrived back. I was grateful for a drink and the opportunity to try a local date cake.

There are plenty of other mine relics to explore in the general area if you have the time.

Well...

We cycled down for a coffee and to see the Queens, the cliffs and other atmospheric historical mine workings , there is paid parking for cars. The cafe is by the hidden carpark and close by the cliffs and chimneys etc. This is such a lovely little cafe serving cakes and teas, coffees, cold drinks. Inside is a welcome respite sometimes from the Cornish winds , they have a free exhibition inside, toilets , and a few good mobility cars for hire/loan. The staff are friendly and Informative about the local area , on advice we found quieter cycling lanes, and was advised to Sunday lunch at the Mexican at Rock Penzance , and what a scrummy lunch it was, the North Inn and Queens head up the road also do lovely food.

A remote national trust cafe in a historic barn which was part of the original Botallac mine. You can access all the main Poldark filming mines from here, just being done change for the car park. They were a little short on supplies in the cafe when we visited, so don't completely rely on them for lunch, but a nice place to stop for a snack. They have a projected video playing showing how the area was used for filming Poldark, and lots of information about the area on the walls. This was the mine where 20 people died when they accidentally tunneled into a neighbouring mine which was flooded, the mines go under the sea.
