Brown Willy is a hill in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The summit, at 1,378 feet above sea level, is the highest point of Bodmin Moor and of Cornwall as a whole. It is situated about 2.5 miles north-west of Bolventor and 4 miles south-east of Camelford. it makes a good walk if you start from rough Tor car park and do rough Tor first then it's a descent down into a Valley and then a big long slog up to the summit of brown willy. Well worth the effort once you get to the top for the views where you can almost see the sea to the North and to the south...
Read moreEasiest way to get here is to park in the Roughtor car park and then walk towards Roughtor. Suggest you aim for the saddle between Showery Top and Roughtor summit and then bear left down the other side towards the river crossing. Brown Willy path can be seen at all times. Don't forget to take a rock to place on the cairn at the top, which is actually higher than the survey point now. I was alone but a family with kids wasn't far behind me and it took them about 2hours from the car park, up to the top and back, allowing for kids...
Read moreWe've done quite alot of fells and mountains in the lakes so figured we'd do the highest hill during our week in Cornwall for the the first time last year, its a nice steady incline with some intresting rock transformations. I had a bit of a shock as we got to the top, admiring the veiws.....yes I got engaged on the top of brown willy 💍.. makes for a few Chuckles. The happiest day of my life ♡ Honestly though lovely steady walk with beautiful views all round will be returning...
