***Walk, electric bike, horse *** BEST WAY TO GET THERE. VERY NARROW ACCESS ROAD/TRACK.(LESS THAT 2 METRES IMHO) TOOOOO Narrow for most vehicles (Yes thats yours) it will be badly scratched.... 'NO PASSING PLACES'. YOU WILL HAVE TO BACKUP 1/4-1/2 a mile, more scratches... If you meet another vehicle or two, or three... It must of a wreckers Paradise hundreds of years ago when a ship was blown off course on too the beach and for Smugglers..... The beach is small stones/Gravel, with a tiny stream running into it ( when it hasn't rained for weeks).

Great beach with fewer visitors. We spent a good few hours here digging sandcastles and looking at the rockpools. Worth going to if you like a smaller and quieter place. Taken a star off purely down to the logistics of getting there. The road is tight and there’s only enough room for a few cars to park right by the beach so not great if you are a pack horse with lots of stuff to take with you. The walk up and down the hill wouldn’t be suitable for some people to visit here.

Great beach to visit especially for the kids.Plenty of rock pools for the kids and interesting tunnels and rocks to run and hide behind.Sandiest closest to the road, coastal path and it gets more gritty as you get towards the sea. Access is by either walking the coastal path or by car.By car you will need to use the National Trust car park at Penare. Its a free car park but only has about 20 spaces so gets busy quite quickly as it's used by walkers to Dodman Point.

To be honest we never actually made it onto the beach so the 3 stars reflects totally on the problems we had actually driving down to it. We'd looked at it online using Google Maps and spotted the handful of parking spaces by the beach entrance.

On that basis we ignored the signs at the NT car park at Dodman saying that there was no parking at the beach and proceeded to drive straight past, down the hill to the beach.

Big mistake! The road has to be the narrowest we've ever driven down - and steep with absolutely no passing points !! Our thanks to the poor old Mini driver we came face to face with around 200m from the beach and who had to reverse all the way back down to the bottom to allow us to squeeze past ! Not an easy task.

The parking at the bottom necessitates tandem parking of cars so unless you're with the other car drivers you could end up getting boxed in !

All in all a very stressful visit and one we won't be undertaking again. (Even if we had parked up at the top, it's still a long trek down from the car park!)

Shame as the beach...

There is a car park back up the hill, national trust car park. We bought our kayaks and dog here. Basically drive to the beach, unload kayaks and things and drive back up the hill to the car park. Theres a honesty box for the parking which I thinks really fair idea. For those who park at the beach it causes chaos for those who try to do the right thing; unload and move on to the car park. Very selfish to block the road when rest of us seem to be able to walk back down from the car park. Also my boyfriend and I spent over an hr trying to help someone who did park at the bottom get out the sand they had buried their van in.

Its a lovely relatively quiet beach and seemingly sheltered. Definitely go again. But please consider parking at the top of the hill and...

The beach itself is very lovely, although, DO NOT DRIVE to this spot. I live in Cornwall and am used to lane driving BUT I've never experienced a journey through back lanes like this. The road is extremely narrow, the hedges are overgrown and you can't pass another car anywhere, even the odd gateway is very small and rare! Don't even think about reversing as this was almost impossible due to the roads movement. I didn't think I was going to fit through some areas of road and I had a smaller car. I would only recommend you walk to this beach from the small village. DO NOT attempt the parking spots that are advertised on...
