Not been here before. As an Anniversary gift we were given an ordnance survey map for this area and there it was. I guess to the locals of the area it is of no surprise. Nice steady walk along by the river. There were a couple of people enjoying the river, by swimming in it you could tell, by the happy sounds they were making. It looked cold but there are hardy folk out there, they deserve a round of applause. On leaving the river there was a slow climb only the last bit was a steeper wind opener to get into the Fort. It was worth every step for the 360'o views. I think it was a good choice to site it there as it would have been easy to defend and to see any adverseries advancing. They could have rolled boulders down at them and played a type of skittles well that's my take on it. There must be some correct history somewhere recorded. It will make a lovely place to have a picnic in the summer as long as you always take your rubbish home with you that way it is alway ready for the next adventurers to enjoy. Would recommend you go to see the views...
