Weardale Museum and High House Chapel — Attraction in Stanhope

Very interesting local museum with a friendly informative volunteer. We especially liked the social history of the Weardale people. Artifacts in the living room were fascinating and we particularly liked the the WW1 exhibit and the excellent tapestry done by the very talented local ladies. The Facebook page clearly states the museum is open every day in September, yet we turned up on Tuesday 24 Sept and it was closed. We drove there especially and as we were only visiting the area for a few days were rather disappointed their information wasn't accurate
