Walked through to the park from the hotel. There are several good (boots are best) paths immediately around the lake area and much more widely up past the cemetery into Stratton Woods. There is some signage but more would be useful. We walked 5 miles in all, but got lost on a seemingly simple red arrowed circular route in Stratton Woods. Lots of dog walkers, kids, big enough area for all, some benches, but not many. Parking is extensive and sometimes tea and cake is open in the adjacent house (volunteers) which is excellent, every time. There is a loo at the back of the house/tearoom but not sure if it's permanently open. Wood carvings around the trails are good to spot and an events board advertises...
Read moreStanton Park in my opinion is one of the best country parks available in Swindon. There are a variety of different walks that you can take, and a lovely lake located in the middle. The only downside is that there weren't any ducks around on the day me and the family visited, which was a shame. Tea and coffee is available from the shop located at the car park, but doesn't accept card. So make sure you have cash if you would like to buy refreshments. Read moreFantastic Park - I regularly work in Swindon and find the evenings very boring and was very pleased to find this little gem. It will become my new place to run while working away, there's a nice mix of walking trails ranging from 1km to 5km with a mix of gravel paths to hard pack mud/bark which makes it perfect for running around and exploring the woods.
I ran around 6PM and the park wasn't too busy and allowed me to run around most paths at my own pace without getting in the way. Very well maintained paths and parks well worth a visit and the car...
