Such wonderful place Visiting here was such a refreshing and enjoyable experience, and I can honestly say it’s one of the nicest parks I’ve been to. The park is beautifully maintained, with wide open green spaces, tidy walking paths, and a wonderful mix of trees, flowers, and landscaped areas. It’s the kind of place that feels inviting the moment you arrive, whether you want to go for a relaxing walk, spend time with family, or just sit and enjoy the fresh air.
One of the things I loved most is how versatile the park is. There are quiet areas where you can sit on a bench and read a book, as well as lively sections with playgrounds and activity zones that are perfect for kids. The children’s play area is well designed, safe, and full of equipment to keep little ones entertained for hours. For those who enjoy being active, the park has plenty of space for jogging, cycling, or even just a peaceful stroll.
I was also impressed with how clean everything was. The grass is well-kept, the bins are emptied regularly, and the facilities are clearly looked after. There are plenty of picnic spots too, making it ideal for spending a sunny day with family or friends. On weekends, you often see families having picnics, children playing, and people walking their dogs—it creates such a warm, community feel.
Another highlight is the natural beauty of the park. The variety of trees and seasonal flowers add so much color and life throughout the year. It’s also a great place for photography, especially around sunset when the light hits the landscape perfectly.
Overall, here is more than just a park—it’s a peaceful escape from the busyness of daily life. It’s safe, welcoming, and offers something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for exercise, relaxation, or quality time with loved ones, this park has it all. I highly recommend visiting and will definitely be...
Read moreThe falls can get busy at times and car park is tiny but free, there is an overflow available for a £5 charge. The walk starts down a steep slope, how steep seems to depend on your mobility. Kids will run down it, adults will take it a little slower. It has loose gravel and is quite uneven in parts, so suitable footwear is a must, also if you have any weak ankles or knees you will need to be careful. Then you have the steps, we were prewarned by a family counting the steps, there's only 30, but again quite steep, then you are on your way, it can get quite muddy from this point, so again the footwear helps... but the view is definitely worth it. Some climb down and take a swim, others walk behind (again take care, can get very slippery). If you choose to walk on the rocks, note people do slip over, we witnessed a couple of guys go down with a thud. Then you have the trip back up that slope, going back up having good lung function will help, some seem to run up, some pause every 50 yards.. watching some of the younger lads check their heartbeats on smartwatches can be quite amusing when they see how high it registers. There is a lovely burger van in the overflow field, very reasonable prices and they do Mr whippy ice cream, which was very welcome after a walk back up in the 28 degree heat we had. If you fancy extra ice cream they do a tub serving for £3.50 which contains a very large amount, plus they offer toppings and sauce....

Henrhyd Falls - one of my absolute favourite places, where childhood nostalgia meets the realisation that nothing has changed… except maybe the water level. As a kid, I used to visit every year while staying with my incredibly active grandmother (seriously, was she training for the Olympics?), and now, as an adult, I come back expecting it to feel smaller or easier to trek. Nope. Still breathtaking, still stunning, still capable of making me question my fitness levels.
For the film buffs, this is the waterfall from The Dark Knight Rises - you know, where Batman dramatically flies in and out of the Batcave. Very cinematic, although in real life, it’s mostly tourists trying not to stack it on the slippery rocks. I think it holds some kind of impressive record - highest waterfall in South Wales? Most accidental soakings per year? Who knows.
Would I recommend? Absolutely. Just be prepared for a potentially heroic climb back up, and if you’re waiting for Christian Bale to emerge from behind the falls… well, I’ve been waiting for years.
Note: Henrhyd Falls is the tallest waterfall in South Wales, plunging 90 feet (27 meters) into a wooded gorge. It served as the entrance to the Batcave in the film “The Dark...
