This is one of the best value for money attractions that I have ever been to. It is free to enter (donations are welcome, but they don't pressure you for them). It's a reasonably sized museum, with a good amount to see. The volunteers are enthusiastic and really know their stuff. Being honest, I'm not all that interested in planes but the enthusiasm and knowledge of the volunteers meant I was very happy listening to what they had to say.
They offer free tours of the Vulcan (which we managed) and another plane, but that was closed when we visited. It's worth arriving early to get your place on the tour - they fill up fairly quick! But the tour was genuinely fascinating.
We also used the cafe, which was unbelievably cheap too. It's fairly basic, but we were all very happy with what we had. There were a couple of homemade cakes on offer.
We left, and my 6 year old wanted to go back next week. To be honest, we'd be quite tempted to join him! I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone in the area.
For reference, we took a a family of four, with a 6 year old and a 3 year old, plus two grandparents. Everybody had...
Read moreMy partner took our 4 year old plane fanatic son here on a Saturday for a few hours. Upon arrival my partner was greeted with an extremely warm welcome but not just to himself but for my son as well. The helpers here were enormously helpful to all and went out there way to make sure your experience is a 10/10 the staff are very knowledgeable of the museum and are always on hand to share this information. Our son has ASD and is non verbal but of course he was made to feel welcome, involved and understood. Both my partner and son loved there visit, my son loved to sit in some of the planes but what put the icing on the cake for him was watching the small planes take off. To all the staff who were working here on 9/3/24 from the bottom of our hearts thank you so much for your kindness and this amazing museum. We have paid to get into many other places yet my partner has never experience staff as caring, understanding and patient as he did here especially with my son's higher needs. Although it's a free entry people give up there time to work here 👏 Please donate if you can this museum is amazing and I can't wait to...
Read moreSo I went to the Jet age museum based at Staverton airport today. I was pleasantly surprised at how amazing it was. Firstly it’s free entry but you can leave a donation and please please do because they really deserve it.
When I entered I was greeted by some really nice volunteers that help run the place who are knowledgable and are really easy to chat to. They also have all the right facilities for whoever is going. Toilets as you walk in plus a really nice cafe where you get some really nice and reasonably priced snacks and drinks.
We enjoyed going around the museum as they had many interesting exhibits to see plus you can even get a tour of two of the plane where you can learn about the aircraft’s and sit in the pilots seat.
This is a great place to bring the family as their is plenty for everyone to enjoy. They only open the weekends but I have had a great day out and will be back soon. Thank you for...
