A wonderful place to visit. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. You can visit the museum, book shop and cafe for free and pay a reasonable entrance fee to walk the nature and sculpture trail.
The cafe has limited options of drinks/cakes/snacks/icecreams for a very reasonable cost. You are also permitted to bring a packed lunch which you can eat in the cafe area.
The second hand book shop is beautifully organised and the books are very cheap. A book lovers heaven!
We didn't walk around the nature trail as 2 of our group have mobility issues but there was an area where you could watch drone footage of the site and watch any birds that come to the bird feeders.
There was also a gift shop and outdoors there were outdoor kitchens for the children to play on.
A lovely community feel to this site.

We spent a lovely couple of hours doing the nature trails and spotting the insect life..............and he thought the "Bat Cave" was great. We even "scrumped" a few blackberries on our way round. The young volunteers were friendly and very helpful , and I have no doubt that we will be back. We particularly want to get to the observatory. Well done to everybody concerned , and I have to say that all the other parents and kids who were there seemed to...
Read moreA little pocket hidden in Thanet that conceals in plain sight, a universe of nature, science, history, knowledge and beauty. Amazingly, Monkton nature reserve is run entirely on volunteers who work passionately to help this area of natural beauty thrive as both a rewarding nature reserve and museum, but there are more layers than an onion here and the more you discover, the more there is to explore, especially during the changing seasons, it never stays exactly the same! If you enjoy a stroll amongst nature in a safe environment or enjoy learning new things, it's a great place to explore. A very large area of the nature reserve is wheelchair friendly too, there is also wheelchair friendly parking and wheelchair access to the museum. Highly...
