We visited Cemlyn Bay in October when all the Terns had departed. My rating obviously takes this into consideration. When we visited the reserve we saw a large group of 200-300 (?) Golden Plover on the foreshore, a single Turnstone on the shore of the lagoon, a couple of Redshank. There were Dunlin and Ringed Plover on a pool of floodwater, A Sheduck and handfull of Little Egret on the lagoon itself and Rock Pipits on the headland. Certainly worth visiting in the late Spring. Read moreWe came here yesterday after a local man told us he caught 48 crabs in one session. Driving in it was reminiscent of Chernobyl. As soon as we got out the car we were overwhelmed by the smell of sewage from the nearby power plant/sewage works. Despite the tide being on the way out, the rock pools were sparse. The beach was basically sludge. All in all we agreed that it was probably one of the worst places we've been to in the UK. No toilet or any other facilities but this pebble beach was a breath of fresh air. Great for swimming and paddle boarding at or near low tide.
