THERE IS NO RHONDDA TUNNEL AS SUCH. YOU CANNOT SEE IT - IT IS UNDERGROUND AND THE ENTRANCE IS COVERED OVER BY TONS OF MOUNTAINSIDE!
THERE ARE PHOTOGRAPHS ON HERE OF A DIFFERENT TUNNEL WHICH IS THE INSPECTION TUNNEL FOR THE LLYN FAWR RESERVOIR- IT HAS THE INITIALS R.U.D.C. ABOVE IT AND IS ABOUT A MILE EAST AT THE TOP OF BLAENRHONDDA - NOT BLAENCWM.
RHONDDA TUNNEL IS NOT BEING OPENED AND THERE ARE NO WORKS BEING CARRIED OUT AT PRESENT TO OPEN IT. THE VISIBLE WORKS AT THE TOP OF BLAENCWM ARE FOR STABILISING THE WEST PART OF THE MOUNTAINSIDE.
THE OPENING OF THE RHONDDA TUNNEL IS A PIPE DREAM AT THE MOMENT. IT IS AN ONGOING QUEST BY A SOCIETY OF SUPPORTERS. IT IS A POSSIBLY WORTHWHILE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THE OLD TUNNEL RE-OPENED BUT AS YET THERE IS NO TUNNEL THAT YOU CAN SEE - REGARDLESS OF ANYONE ELSES FALSE INFORMATION.
