The summit of the hill is the site of an Iron Age hill fort known as Badbury Camp. It is roughly circular in shape, most of which was levelled early in the 19th century. It has been suggested as a possible site of the 5th or 6th century Battle of Mons Badonicus, where King Arthur defeated the Anglo-Saxons. It is now a wooded area, known locally as Badbury Clump, of roughly nine acres, swathed in bluebells in May and is a well-frequented local recreation area, for walkers, dog-owners and mountain biking. It is now in the care of the National Trust, free for members, or Pay & display, so don't forget some change.

If you want to take a break from work or you want to spent some quality time with family this is a right place. The parking for 2hrs cost you £2 & for all day £4. You can build your own hurt with dried branched and sticks. If you want click some nice photo for your family or kid it’s a best place with natural prop. There is a cycle trai available too. Once you are done can have a scope of icecream at exit gate.

Fun place to stop by and walk around. Really loved all the tightly clumped together trees ~ they looked really beutiful. The children loved running between them. There are no toilets. There is a reasonable amount of parking. We did manage to find a space but there were not many left. Apparently you can see the nearby white horse but I didn't think it was very clear. I would recommend stopping by.

Beautiful place, we've been walking our dog(s) there for over 20 years....BUT, now that we have to pay £2 minimum payment for a measly two hours just to park (or 'just' £4 for the day!) in a (still) majorly potholed, but apparently 'improved' car park, which has no CCTV or added security....or even the benefit of decent shade since they cut down half of the trees in the parking area (to expand it they say, but they have put great big flower beds where the trees were, not parking spaces!)

For a simple woodland dog walk....forget it. Too pricey for us to take a regular walk there now.

Oh of course it's free if you're a member of the National trust, but not everyone can afford to be! The place has just become a National trust cash cow. No amenities to speak of, no toilets, no café or information centre, just the standard basic information map, a small, single solitary dog pooh bin at the gate and a nice new shiny machine for which to pay the extortionate fee!

Such a shame, nature should be free for all, not just those better off with a disposable income!

(Ps: this is a location that most will have to drive to when visiting, so parking in the car park is the only real option, even...

If you want to experience nature then badbury clump is a delight for the senses, large car park (no facilities) but the occasional ice cream van in the summer months. There is a mountain bike track here for the more experienced riders on the lhs of the woods, other than that walkers have the whole place to explore. With nature playgrounds and the chance to build dens as you walk around it’s an outdoor heaven. Being situated on a hill you do find it is a steep climb back up (not ideal for those with walking issues) dog friendly and great to walk in wet or dry conditions it’s a great place to be. There is currently tree felling works in the woods (26/08/2024) which has closed some parts. Free parking with a national...

One of the best places around the area for dog walking. Both my partner and I were surprised that we could not find this place, or any of the roots around here, on any app to suggest that it was such a good dog walk.

We highly recommend this as a enjoyable walk not only for you but also your dog. It's advisable to either take a picture or study the map closest to the gate before you enter, just so you know which college route you want to embark on. There is also a set area for cyclists to explore which is a non-pedestrian area.

Overall, we cannot recommend this location highly enough for enjoyable, potentially lead free, walks if you have a four-legged...
