A waste of time and money - the ‘museum’ is so limited, so small, that you can get round it in forty minutes. Less a museum than an old shed with a band of unexceptional cars and bikes. At £27 for four people it didn’t break the bank but doesn’t represent the pinnacle of value. You could look at pictures of old bangers on the internet and be richer and happier.
The cafe experience was something else and I’d urge you to read a few reviews - particularly where the owners have replied. Their replies are unintentional comedy gold, but also very telling.
So our experience was that the place was overcrowded and just dirty. There were tables upon tables of dirty crockery and cutlery not cleared away - always an inspiring sight. Service on the day was abysmally slow. When we did get to speak to someone, a rather surly young lady dressed, for reasons I didn’t fully understand, as a cat (no… really… I’m not making that up)… was just a bit rude. Apparently it was quite impossible to get a bite and a drink without a table, it was equally impossible to pick and uncleared table, and it was impossible for anyone to clear a table. It was like a comedy of errors. I think she told us there was nowhere to put the mess on the tables - I didn’t want to suggest it might all be better off in the kitchen than in view of customers.
The playground there was just as abysmally awful - it was rusty, it was knackered, it looks like a fantastic place to need a tetanus shot, we took one look at it and thought better of it.
For any money it was a poor experience, the shed of cars was uninteresting, the cafe was awful and the playground looked like a liability.
Now you’ve read that please take to other review forums to read the owner’s responses. They are hilarious. They ask readers to accept that every poor experience is invalid and they deflect in a way that’s like listening to a teenager explain why they didn’t get home on time. Have a read and then ask yourself if you want to give money to people whose...

We visited in May, on a whim, wondering whether two hours would be enough to do it justice. Forty minutes later, it turns out £27 for four of us was too much to do it justice.
The cafe was overcrowded, it looked dirty, there were many empty tables with dirty plates piled up on them and service was slow.
We queued up to get a coffee and some cake, to be served by someone who had come to work dressed as a cat (no, really), and told we had to choose a table before ordering, that ordering anything without a table number was not possible and that picking one of the dumping tables would not do. Apparently because cat lady had nowhere to put the mess on those tables. Embarrassing. We gave up, then, on any refreshment, and cracked on to the museum.
Such as it is.
It comprised two large garages full of not particularly noteworthy cars which could be taken in, in their entirety, in about twenty minutes, along with some motorbikes and tractors.
The playground was probably modern in 1984, but by today’s standards it’s just rusty, worn, in desperate need of an update and not worth the price of admission. It’s like an advert for making sure your kids get their inoculations.
I was just expecting more.
So between the dreadful cafe and the nothing museum it felt like time we’d never get back in our lives and money we’d have been better off spending elsewhere.
If you wanted free advice, I’d give it a miss.
But if you want a laugh, read the bad reviews and then read the vitriol the owner has in replying. It gave me a proper chuckle. No self awareness, no reflection, completely unable to accept there might be something to it. I can imagine their face turning gammon pink as they read this…. totally unaware that the replies are more likely to put people off than...
Read moreOverall a very cool place to visit for people with keen interest in vintage vehicles and military vehicles. It goes without saying that it is much smaller than the large inner city museums of this ilk and you get round the attractions rather quickly. At £27 for two adults, one child and one freebie (4 and under) it felt a wee bit steep for the 15 mins tops it takes to get around the exhibits.
The grounds are pretty amazing and lovely for kids to play with a pretty well thought out park area and decent sized field. Obligatory over priced gift shop stocked primarily of flimsy cheap plastic toys that will fall apart in the disappointed hands of the kids that convince their adults to buy em.
We had fully intended to have lunch here on our way home until the rudeness from the manager(?) of the cafe put us right off.
Youngest is neuro diverse and struggles somewhat with decisions and choices, he was permitted to purchase a memento which led to him very torn between two items. After much flip flopping, quietly in a corner with no tantrum or moaning he bought something and almost immediately changed his mind.
I politely tried to get the attention of the person who seemed to be in charge and asked if exchanges are allowed. I didn't think it would be and was fully prepared to be told no given the item he wanted was half the price of the item he'd be swapping back. What I didn't expect was to be told to wait while she dealt with "paying customers" (exact quote).
Taken aback I just stood away from the till, after a few moments she addressed a staff member in Welsh who then came and very politely did the exchange.
All in all one snotty assumption left us feeling rather undervalued and disgruntled so we got in our car and carried on our way home. Lunch will be a...
