It was good if you like trains. Was a bit disappointing. We paid £22 for two adult tickets (kids were free on this occasion). The journey seemed to go back and forth, rather than from point a to point b, but there wasn't anything to do at any of the stops. Journey lasted about an hour's and about 15-20 minutes of this was stationary to have pictures of the kids in the engine itself if you wanted to. Appreciate totally it's a volunteer run thing but we were just expecting something else after looking at the website and having done these trips before. Not saying don't go by any means, just don't expect too much

Epicentre of large scale industrial sites arising from the 1780s with iron foundries, leading onto the development of Bessemer steel production. One can see how the site began, understand the importance of Wales and it's claim to be the first industrial nation. The BBC TV series 'coal house' set in 1927 and 'coal house' at war set in 1944 were filmed here. Nearby are 'The Big Pit' and walks that explore the development of industrial sites from The Iron Age, the middle ages and the Industrial Revolution.

Blaernavon World Heritage Centre is in a converted building and explains the history of the are in connection with the production of iron ore. There are display boards and TV's showing you what it was like during this heavy industrial era. There is also a shop selling related items.

We were overall dissapointed, as website and advertisements made t by e area out to be more than it is. I guess we were expecting something different. Positives: -Great scenery on the drive up there. -Ponds were pretty with nice walk. -Heritage center had informative presentations. -Iron Works looked good, but we didn't pay to go in. -Free parking Negatives: -Town very very run down. -Cafe couldn't serve us for an hour and there was nowhere else to eat in the town. (Got co-op sandwiches) -Museum was closed. -Library was closed -Advertised shops...

The museum part was very informative and interesting, some of the videos were OK. Mining and Stee productionl in Wales brought so much benefit to the country, but at such a high cost to the workers! Fascinating historical centre. Disappointed by the Cafe, they had 45 minutes to go before closing, but had already cleaned the coffee machine, to benefit themselves. They offered me instant coffee! Oh well that's 2024 workers for you. They could learn a lot from the hardworking miners that used to population these...
