Wheelchair accessible - manual chairs only though. Ramp on and off the train - at the back of the carriage. They give wheelchair users two seats (the seats fold away so you sit in your chair) - not a lot of leg room for the people sitting opposite you unless you have a small chair! No ticket discount/free carers ticket. Accessible loo at Llanberis Station, there are two accessible parking bays (free by the looks of things) outside the building at Llanberis and their car park is around the back (£5). We missed the accessible bays and parked in their carpark but it would have been much easier to park in the car park opposite - less far to push! The cafe at Llanberis is accessible. Spectacular scenery on route and at the summit. There's a push button lift up into the summit cafe and there's an accessible loo here and you can get out onto the viewing terrace. But you'll need to be able to do very uneven steps to get to the actual summit. It's about 10 degrees colder at the top - so you may need a 'big coat' even in summer if you feel the cold. We had a bit more room on the way back as two people in our 'carriage' walked down so we folded up my chair and I sat on the hard seat (but more comfortable than my...
Read moreI took the Snowdon Mountain Train (pre-booking essential as its popular) whilst my husband and dog walked. Train passengers only have a short 30 minutes at the summit - barely enough to get to the summit OR buy a souvenir OR get a cup of tea given sheer numbers of people descending from the train at once.
Amazingly my brief visit coincided with the arrival of my husband and dog (we had text communication all the way amazingly and we waved as we passed him on a particularly steep part).
The views from the train were stupendous! I have never been to the summit when it has been so clear, dry and warm. Do not expect that even if it's nice weather at the foot. It's a mountain so it has its own microclimate as one as ends so be sure, even going by train, to take an extra layer if venturing outside at the top.
It's well worth the fare as these engines have to work hard as do the staff to ensure everyone who goes up gets down again. Totally...
Read moreAmazing views at the top and an expensive cafe, to be fair it is at the top of a mountain though so it is to be expected. There were tons of people there and the mountain top was packed as was the cafe and toilets, don't expect a romantic secluded mountain top for the perfect selfie as the place is always pack in the spring and summer months. For the perfect views and a lot less people, go when it is cold or in the autumn or winter months. I've walked up several times but chose the train as I wanted to take my young son. The ride up unfortunately made me and the boy travel sick as it was really bumpy and horrible diesel fumes when the windows were open, if he was older we would have walked down. We are walking next...
