Well worth the admission money!
At the moment until October, you can have a walk around the gardens on search for the wooden sculptures and take a snap shot of each different one, -can you complete? They do offer you a very good map to help locate each one...
Hungry?...
Take a picnic with you if you like, or have a tasty snack at the trailer cafe which they offer. Prices are, I would say, at the going rate and reasonable.
At the moment the gardens are in full bloom and flowers are full of bees; they have a nice walk around the grounds which is very manageable, also very well maintained. It's also dog friendly, but remember to control them so others can enjoy the peace from nature. I hadn't come across a problem when exploring there myself, and came across a couple of well behaved dogs on the leads. They also offer little treats at the cafe to help quiet them down and also dog icecream, for the good doggy treat, for a price.
A good number of hours can be spent at this place if you are interested in this type of thing. I've taken a few pic shots for you to see what to expect, but I'll leave a lot off so you can explore for yourselves. The rose garden is lovely to see!
If it is in full sun, you can be sheltered by the many surrounding trees. Cloudy and slight rain is also still ok if you bring a light mac or brolly..
I met the owner on the way out and he seems a very nice guy.
All in all, a thumbs...
Read moreLimited signs with much of the garden closed off or private. The walled garden could have been nice (does not look like their website photos) but has been planted with limited imagination and much of it fallen into disrepair.
The woodland walk was nice (at best), but there’s nothing there that you couldn’t see in any public woodland walk. At some point, someone seems to have made an effort to do something, but like everything else, it’s all been neglected.
You can walk around the castle/house, but not in it.
The food was good quality, but WAY overpriced for what you get. This may be “I saw you coming” Pembrokeshire prices. Took a long time to get our order and it wasn’t even busy at the time….except for the staff who seemed to be very busy getting nothing done.
The staff were nice and pleasant, and the exhibition was pretty good. I’d like to have given 3 stars, but for the £7.50 entry and the overpriced food, I expected more.
The woodland information signs do show the EU logo, so it may be funding is long longer available. If you’re not in the area, it really isn’t worth the...
Read moreI didn't have much expectation for our visit here. It was a rainy afternoon end of April. Myself and my family (6&11). We got there and there was nobody to take the entry fee. £15 for our family of four. There was a sign saying that there was an honest box, so with some trepidation I pushed the money into the box. There was also a note to say that one of the garden trails was shut as there was storm damage that had blown down some trees. But still, what else do you do? There was only one other family there and they were on their way back, but certainly seemed to have enjoyed themselves. I really enjoyed the walk around. It was so very different. I felt I was in a very natural and somehow magnificently magically tumble down fading ancient alive wood. There was a gargeb, an old church, a house, even some ruins to complete the setting. We found a really small oak tree next to a fallen titan that was symbolic and just nice to find. There was enough for us as a family, though the closed off wild walk? would have been nice, I didn't feel aggrieved at not...
