Just off a b-road is a small parking area at the foot of a grassy hill. The mound ahead is Warbstow Bury, a ancient man made hill with a long history. An info board gives some context and history for this historic site;
Warbstow Bury is an ancient hill-fort located in the county of Cornwall. The hill-fort dates back to the Iron Age, with evidence of occupation from around 500 BC to 400 AD.
It is one of the largest and best-preserved hillforts in Cornwall, covering an area of about 11 acres. It consists of multiple ramparts and ditches that were likely built for defensive purposes. The site also features a central enclosure, believed to have been the stronghold of a local tribal chief or a prominent figure during that time.
In addition to its archaeological significance, Warbstow Bury offers scenic views of the gorgeous surrounding countryside.
