Very disappointed. We were expecting a 'hands -on' experience as the website suggests. Well, you might get to have a hawk on your glove for a couple of minutes over the course of two hours. The 'falconry centre' consists of a yard at the back of a garden centre with a selection of large rabbit hutches containing birds of prey. That's it. The whole lot would fit in my garage. At the start the woman falconer said utterly shamelessly 'Well we include a tour of the centre' and spreading her arms out she said 'Here it is !' Very pricey, and essentially you get a two hour lecture by a woman who is sadly unintentionally very irritating. She made several snide remarks about foxhunting. Correct me if I'm wrong but falconers kill animals for sport. A falconry event will probably include others who do other blood sports. It is best not to insult your customers. Also her general style would have made a 10 year old feel patronised. I really didn't want to hear about how she took her falcons into the toilet with her either. She seemed to revel in anecdotes about bird faeces. I am sure this is hilarious if you are 8, but the audience averaged about 40 years old. All animals defecate, but if you go for a riding lesson you don't expect your teacher to give you chapter and verse about horse manure. At one point she handed a rather excited hawk to a somewhat mild-mannered fellow, having explained how she herself had been badly scratched and attacked by a hawk. The hawk then proceeded to flutter about and squawk loudly, but she just left this poor chap with the hawk on his arm. You could see that he thought the bird was about to peck his eyes out at any moment. Did the falconer do anything ? No. I booked via Groupon and it was about £14. It was supposedly a visit which would normally have cost £65. I honestly can't believe they could ever have charged that for this amateur show. Even at the Groupon reduced rate it was really poor. Basically you pay to be shown round their 'centre' (collection of rabbit hutches) and then see a couple of birds fly round a field. This was pricey by any standards. I will say this for Groupon though - the customer service chappie I spoke to thought the whole thing was so laughably bad he gave me a full refund, so I would use their...

My partner and I had the privilege of celebrating their 50th birthday with a private session at Fur and Feathers, and I am thrilled to say it exceeded all our expectations. The birds were absolutely stunning, and the experience of meeting, flying, and learning about them was nothing short of perfect. The staff's dedication to these magnificent creatures and their efforts to educate visitors about the struggles they face in the wild were both enlightening and inspiring.
Spending two perfect hours immersed in the beauty and grace of these birds was an unforgettable experience, and we are eagerly looking forward to returning with our kids and teenagers. Itās a fantastic opportunity for families to bond and learn together in a serene environment.
For anyone visiting the Windsor area, especially those staying at the Fairmont Hotel or visiting Legoland with children, I highly recommend taking a break from your itinerary to visit Fur and Feathers. It's a wonderful way to introduce a moment of calm and connection with nature into your trip.
Thank you, Fur and Feathers, for an exceptional experience. Your passion for these birds and their conservation is truly commendable. We couldn't recommend you...
Read moreWhat an amazing 10th birthday treat. This was a party of 3 adults and 7 children, the youngest being 6⦠the eldest 60. We had an amazing experience. Thank you Olivia for spending over an hour teaching us about your beautiful birds, your love and passion for them literally filled the room. SO much information and really interesting facts. Our experience was having a beautiful barn owl first flying to each of us after we had been given a handlers glove and explanation of what to expect and how to behave in the interests of the birds. After the barn owl came the kestrel and then the Harris hawk. An outstanding experience which we will 100% be doing again. As an extra special treat for our birthday girl she got to hold a snowy owl (that looked just like Hedwig.) you could feel her vibrating with the excitement of that opportunity. So a very special thank you to Olivia for recognising a fellow bird lover in that...
