WELL THE OWNERS REPLY BELOW WAS SOME WHAT PREDICTABLE 😂🤣😂 OF COURSE HAVING BEEN ACCUSED OF NEGATIVITY I'LL HAPPILY SHOW A LITTLE NOW. PLEASE DO READ ON PMSL.

When my wife an avid fan of the TV series Poldark, suggested a holiday to Cornwall, I knew I would have to endure something that involved Poldark!

Staying in Mullion had I done my research I am sure I would have seen the adverts for the ‘Poldark Mines’ and figured out her intentions and maybe read a few of the reviews on google before wasting the fuel to drive to the mine.

In hindsight having read the owners calculated responses to more negative reviews I will choose my wording carefully.

It was upsetting to hear that the mine had closed due to the previous owner’s poor financial management. Although it is somewhat concerning that the current owners are not far behind the previous with their financially clownish signage.

I am sure the current owner will snub me for only visiting the car park however when amateur signs are plentiful and especially when they read:-

Smoke Free Zone Please Do Not Smoke Outside Our Gates

Restricted Items: Cigarettes’, E-Cigarettes’, Lighters, Matches, Mobile Phones, Music Players, All Photographic Equipment, Backpacks, Handbags cannot be taken into the mine & should be left in your car.

In principle totally agree the smoke free zone absolutely fantastic for families. However, advising visitors to leave valuable items in cars is lunacy. With Cornwall’s rich history of Piracy, smuggling and skulduggery, I was somewhat concerned, even more so when the bottom of your car park looks like “Step-toe and Sons” yard.

Being concerned about the risks I spoke with the Cornish Police who strongly advised against this practice, oddly as does every other police force in the country! Unless your liability insurance allows this practice, which I doubt, your advice could place you at risk if visitors take your advice leaving handbags, camera etc in their vehicles.

Now let’s be clear restoration of this location is an important heritage project but a long-term project. Third party organisations will only fund you so far, success is about long-term financial income. Having the ability to put paying customers off in the car park isn’t a recipe for long-term success!

On the plus side I did escape my nemesis that is "Poldark" :)

Wow don't usually update reviews but visited Geevor Tin Mine today amazingly haunting walking through changing rooms felt the life that had once been there even met some of the miners who worked the mine before it sadly closed in 1990. Definitely worth the money. £45 for family of 5 😎

Update 12/08/2018. So to the obtuse owner some advice. I might have liked to help you raise your 250k for the full restoration, as might others. However before any investor would consider investment they might look at your replies to customers or potential customers. It is very clear that Poldark Mine is not a tourist destination. Like most people I would like a memento of my trip to a historic site, it's kinda the point of having a camera. In respect to your comment about being insulting to the Cornish, I have raised my review with a number of friendly Cornish folk all of which were shocked at your attitude towards visitors. All laughed at your toy guns comment and felt was a clear indication that your venture is not family friendly. No need for me to judge your fellow countrymen already have you seem to be rather well known locally. I wish you the best of luck with your venture but being able to accept a little constructive criticism might...

I was led down by a short chubby man about five foot with loads of people and I don't think he was honest about how narrow and small it was in there Unfortunately I'm six foot four and some children were a bit scared of what it was like in there I nearly crawled on my hands and knees and the passages were really narrow to get through I knocked my glasses off and I got lost but the tour guide was well gone and I think they just want you're money and show no concern for the customer The rest of it was hard to fathom about how a mine works unless your a mine worker yourself A tatty place outside needs modernizing Considering the rude replies from the owner on here he doesn't care what people think My advice to the owner is put your manners back in and show respect to the views on here you can't take critisism Quite clearly the owner is not a well man ranting and raving on here The owners review is bizarre I'm not...

What a brilliant place, a real Cornish gem! Having grown up in Cornwall, and moved away (planning on moving back 'home' soon) I've seen the sign to Poldark Mine many times on the roundabout near Flambards, but never actually visited. I'm pleased I did last Saturday (August 10th).

Our tour guide Robert was fantastic, really engaging and a warm, personable character. Thank you.

Upon him mentioning the song Camborne Hill by the post box, he asked if anyone knew it...I nodded, and he asked if I'd like to sing it, but I didn't want to subject the pixies to my 'dulcet tones'.

The tour cost nearly ÂŁ20 for an adult ticket, but it was definitely worth it. You must go, you won't regret it.

Just to note, you can't take any electronic items down the mine, but can leave them at the ticket office and collect after the tour if you don't want to leave them...

We visited here while on a break to Cornwall. We took the museum tour rather than the mine tour. Thankfully the people in the ticket office recommended that we could join in with the mine tour people who were seeing an introductory video but I guess this was more serendipity with timing than anything else so don’t expect it upon your visit. The museum had an interesting history of the site and the mine, mainly covering the boom & interest from the 70/80s version of Poldark. But it was rather cluttered and more could possibly done with less items. It may be worth asking for a guide to describe some of the exhibits in the museum. Given the recent popularity in The recent Poldark series, I Would probably recommend to people in order to visit and support this, but probably needs to declutter and tidy up the museum.

The mueseum might have a bit of dust and clutter problem at the entrance. But once you get past the entrance, it has one of the most beautiful garden and cafe on the side. All laid out with the history of tin mining. The poldark mine tour happens twice a day and is always fun, and some appreciation how they had to mine addtion height due the average height was 5' 1''. It is good to go down if you especially a fan of the poldark tv series as they talk about where they filmed the first three season down the mine.
