The local poet Paul Mann wrote these words in his poem - The Ballad of Bellever Tor. The first verse goes: "Bellever Tor is a helluva tor, It’s a rip-snortin’, ca-vortin’ swell-of-a-tor. And if, as I live, I heard tell-of-a-tor The words I inferred would be “Bellever Tor”.
Bellever Tor is often called the centre of Dartmoor and while the Path to the top of the Tor is steep it is worth the effort to get up there as the Tor is an amazing piece of geology as well as being the centre point of the Moor.

Read moreA small car park, then through a gate leading to a large gravel track going uphill. Towards the top of the hill the path forks giving you various options. Most of the paths in the woods are light gravel so could be passable with a buggy with inflated tyres but if you have a child you may want a baby carrier (rucksack).
