Fantastic day at Xtreme Falconry. My fiancée and I were there for a falconry experience session, but spent all day enjoying the wide and incredibly varied selection of birds, as well as two highly entertaining and informative displays from staff and then the owner himself. Their knowledge was outstanding, as was their showmanship.
In general the presentation of the entire park was very high, and they are still developing. Many birds had highly informative displays about the species, paths were well directed, and there was good seating and spacing for viewing at the display. A suitable picnic area was provided, and the cafe looked very good although we brought our own lunch. The customer toilets were very clean and well maintained. There was also a small souvenir shop.
The experience itself was fantastic, with a variety of birds flown to land on your glove. Despite being a reasonably large group, this was done so smoothly that everyone got multiple chances with each bird, and there was time for pictures to be snapped by your fellow experiencees or spectators you brought along. The experience took place in the main flying arena, so the other visitors could come and watch, but it was at a distance from them so you did not feel on full show! The knowledge of the team was outstanding once again, and the chance to ask questions was a highlight in itself. I asked one about using falconry to fish, and the staff member did not know, but went and found out and came and found us to tell us that it is used for such in some places, including Japan!
All in all, a top place to visit which looks set to improve, fuelled by the passion of a committed family and their team. Support them, and their mission to help educate about, promote, and protect such...
Read moreWhat a great day out! We turned up around 10am and had a quick drink in the tea room before the first show at 11am. The lady in the tea room was so friendly, it was a great start to the day. We then walked through to see all the birds they had, and there were so many to see and read about! We then watched the first bird show and it was fab! They ensured the birds flew up close and low, to give a great show. It created a great atmosphere! There were so many facts and some dad jokes thrown in too! We also had an experience booked in too (family of 4, two adults and two boys, 12 & 15) which we started after the bird show. This was led by Connie and she was amazing! So knowledgeable, so passionate, very professional and ensured we all had a great time and got the most out of the experience. We handled two owls, a vulture and a large bald eagle at the end! We have absolutely no complaints about the day. We were looked after so well and it was a personal experience from start to finish. Even at the bird show everyone was spoken to and involved in some way. The family runs a great place and we will certainly be...
Read moreLots of birds to look at, and that's the best I can say. My husband and I went to watch the display at 11 o'clock today. With my husband being Autistic, we sat apart from the main group of people, as the chatter can be very distracting. The owner comes out, and asks us to move closer to everyone else, we chose not to, and said we were fine, thank you. To which he responds " there's social distancing, and then there's unsocial distancing" he then turned his back to us and mouthed something to the crowd about us. The young man who was working with him, was doing all the work, while the owner talked all about himself. He would interact with the crowd, but then turn the conversation back to me myself and I. He even added in a homophobic slur in for good measure, and told his son sitting in the crowd, to "wind his neck in" at one point. Would I recommend going there, no I wouldn't, unless you'd like to know more about the owner than the birds. No doubt a neurotypical straight person, would find him amusing or entertaining. We however found him to be rude...
