Warning...extremely long post..get yourself a brew!! Visited a week ago when day was around 16degrees and hadn't rained for a week. Consequently was expecting a nice dry grassed field. That wasn't the case..there are water butt's and tap with hose to enable wash dogs dirty paws and boy did my crew of 3 floofies get dirty..the water butt's are positioned at fence with no hardcore so it was obviously at some point grassed in front? Now it was a mud slutched area which it will be.with water tap being located over what is just soil. To get access to it you'd have to stand in all the slutch along with your dog. So that's obviously defeating what your trying to do ..ie washing off dirty paws as much as can before back in car. There is a fenced square around a.tree that was a quadmire of slutch. One of my dogs..only 15kg got stuck in it and had to get her out..nightmare!!! If this area has poor drainage why not fence around it all? Or make a feature of it by hardcoring/seating or something. I'm used to my dogs getting dirty as visit alot of dog fields as well as walking in woods . But when out in nature such as woods I'm prepared.for the possibility of slutchy areas/pools.of water etc. But when book a dog field I do not expect it to be slutchy to the.degree this was. That all said the rest of sycamore was great and vast with loads of field for the dogs to run around. If you are able to keep away from slutchy areas then it's a nice field for dogs as grass elsewhere good and not too patchy. The main point is being aware of what to expect imo so you can prepare...if I'd thought there was going to be slutch to the level it was I'd have liked to have been informed so could make a choice whether to go or not..to put dogs onesies on..or just to know that wen getting out of car to try and direct dogs away from left side of field..yayy right ehh...they know.where the slutch is...I'm ok with them getting dirty but this was ridiculous as they were covered in slutch..and even though car is covered with appropriate dog stuff it still ended up filthy...the doors were slutched up inside...I took a couple pics but couldn't get one of mollie stuck with me wading in to get her out..now that would of been an image..nearly fell over myself. On crossover with next person they were aware of the slutchy areas and keep their short haired dog away..but did agree that conditions needed attention. Now I've not reviewed to be horrid to field owners but just to give us bookers the chance to make an informed choice...I'd be interested to know others views as there dont seem to be any recent ones and if those areas dry up in summer weather...although I can't see how the area around water butts/hose ever does when it's located just over soil...turned what I was expecting to be a nice day with dogs into a nightmare of a day...washing them back home..that's in season 2🙄..can't seem to add pics on edit(came back into post as didnt put on)but the fenced tree/square area I can see some people have posted pics and don't seem bothered by it..horses for courses..but I'll still stick by being able to make informed choice...I'll try put pics separately...won't let me.put a separate review on says I've already reviewed this place and can't see option to...
Read moreGreat scope of a field. Grass is kept short. Seems very secure. Its easy to get in/out with your vehicle. Hard stand for parking within the field is a decent size. There are however lazy dog owners using this field. They're not picking up after their dog(s)! So you do need to watch your footing, and that of your dog(s). Its a pity to see, if it gets out of control, its going to ruin this great facility. Finishing on a positive tho', The owners go to great lengths to provide really helpful facilities such as a battery powered water supply and a dog bin that I've yet to see overflowing! Thank you. All-in-all, this is a valuable resource for...
Read moreWe went to Sycamore Dog Field for the first time this morning and it didn't disappoint! Our miniature schnauzer Poppy had a great time and we really enjoyed spending time walking in the field listening to the birds as the sun started to rise :)The facilities are great, with a handy dog wash for those muddy paws, poo bags and a bin to pop them in afterwards. I also really liked the fact that you can lock the gate securely whilst you're using the field for extra safety and security. We will be back very soon. Many thanks for the use of this...
