Accessible / dogs and push chair information at the bottom. I can't do much of a detailed review as I didn't get to walk round the whole park. I only met some friends here but I did walk round a little. When we got there the car park was fairly empty but filled up quick. I only saw two car parks but I assume there might be another for overflow. The parking fee seemed fair as they have a cafe there and I can see people spending more than an hour there.
We went to the park to sit and chat as we had a child with us. I had a glimpse of the park and it looked really nice and well kept.
We then went to the cafe to have some food and use the toilets. The cafe was quite large, but most people were outside on the benches. The food offered looked really good. Not cheap, not too expensive but a fair price for what you get I think. Like most places on a day out. I got a sausage roll and my friends got drinks. Very nice. As we exited the cafe there were bins. There was also a little table for people to clean their hands if they wish. And also a bucket of duck food with a suggested donation.
We bought a few bags. We then went out to walk round to the pond and feed the ducks. The walk to the pond was lovely. Very foresty. Also well kept. No litter anywhere or mess.
Once at the pond there were a couple of beaches to sit on and a wide open greenery. Although I do say greenery loosely. This is no fault of the owners but it looked like the grass had suffered from all the heat. Also where the ducks had been coming out, people had been throwing their feed all on the ground which then of course gets eaten by the ducks.
There was a sign up saying please do not throw the feed on the floor. But this was widely ignored. I did suggest they should put a sign in the ground stating that the duck feed should be thrown in the pond only. That way the sign might be read more. But some people unfortunately tend to not care.
ANYWAY. After feeding the ducks we walked a little further down to a building that I had no idea was there. It was locked up I guess to stop people going in and wrecking it maybe. But it was lovely to see. We wandered around it and took some photos and headed back the same way, past the pond back towards the car park.
I would love to visit here again as it seems like it can offer a lot more. There are walking trails and more places to explore. So when I get the chance I will go back and take more pictures to add. From what I've seen so far though, I'd definitely recommend going. Regarding accessibility. They had ramps into the cafe, so you could get a wheelchair, scooter or pushchair into them. All the paths that I have been on were fairly flat and easy to walk on.
The toilets were easy to access and get in and out of. Also kept clean and tidy on the day we went. I saw a few people with dogs on leads so I think it's a good dog...
Read moreWe went to Brandon Country park on a day trip looking for somewhere new to try out. We live over the border in Norfolk so this was a nice change. The park is close to Brandon and there is a bus stop outside the entrance. There are 3 car parks, main, overflow and picnic meadow. The hall is a residential home, but the grounds and surrounding woodland are all accessible. There are several routes for short legs and bikes and lots to see en route. We did the tree walk and ticked off loads of trees in our eye spy book!!
The walled garden was beautiful - shame the water feature wasn't on but it was a pretty area. The pond is pretty and we did see a good number of ducks (they sell food on the cafe for 30p for a bag). We sat and ate a picnic as there were lots of benches around on the walk.
The playground was bigger than expected with swings, slides, roundabout, climbing frames etc. and was next to the cafe. We had a hot drink and some cake from the cafe and ate it in the pay area at one of the benches. It was good to see that they had a gluten free offering for both sweet and savoury and the inside the cafe looked clean and well managed.
Overall we would return again - parking was ÂŁ3 all day and frankly the facilities were excellent for that price. Cheaper than Thetford Forest (now ÂŁ15 parking!) and just...
Read moreWe were looking for a nice shady woodland to go for a nice walk, to escape from the heat on the hottest day of the year so far. I've never had problems finding these places and I thought this would be one of them, based on the website and the picture. Yet, I was welcomed by open dry and sandy paths which were definitely not what I was looking for. You could also hear the cars pretty much all the time. In addition, we struggled to find the start of the walking paths and got lost a few times as the trail map was quite inaccurate. We ended up taking a detour to be back at the car as soon as we could. We're well familiar with England woodland as we love walking in the forest and this is the first time we encountered these issues. So if you're looking for a nice shady woodland walk, this is not your place. Feel free to look at my profile and you'll see 90% of my reviews are 4-5 stars, so me leaving such a bad review is not the usual, just to clarify. You will be better off by stopping somewhere along the road down the forest,...
