First.time visiting Nowton Park and I love it. I actually stayed in the park so I'm not sure how much parking is. There is a large car park with a large children's park, toilets and a little cafe. It was the school holidays so very busy and noisy, however there are lots of benches and tables if you want a little quiet. If you want an alternative, you can follow the yellow walk you can pop across to Nowton village and visit the bakery which is amazing. Google it. The park has a number of walks which are marked. Over the week I stayed in the park I completed them all but it is so easy to mix and match and if you get lost you can just choose a colour and it will take you back to the car park. It was dry when I visited but I imagine the wooded walks are very muddy in wet weather. There are woodland trails, large open meadows and tracks to follow. The row of limes is dramatic and is probably amazing when the fragrance hits at the end of summer. It was spring so there were only buds. We had missed the best of the daffodils along the base of the limes. There is a fenced off area which appears to be for conservation. There is a bush skills area and it appears to do lessons. The arboretum is beautiful although not all trees are numbered to work out which is which. There were many people walking dogs and although there were no bins other than at the main car park, it did seem very clean. If you had a mobility scooter you could probably do many of the trails, although the woodland trail tracks are narrow and probably unsuitable. Tucked away are a few small ponds and a larger one for spotting wild life. It was certainly filled with birdsong while we were there. The park closes at 9.00 so there is plenty of time to walk when it is quiet. When it's dark it is perfect for star gazing. If we lived closer we would come here often. It's a beautiful place, quiet and calm and even when it's busy, there is enough space to not bump in to others. Definitely worth a visit on a beautiful sunny spring day or wrapped up for a...
Read moreThis is a nice, well maintained parkland to visit. The car park is good with plenty of spaces and is £2 for 1-2 hours or £3 for all day. You can pay by cash, card or the MI Permit app.
We walked the 3KM yellow walk which walks around the outer parts of the park with a mixture of woodland and fields. This could be stretched a little further adding in bits of the green cycling route as well. The route follows a mud and grass footpath and was easy to follow and is well kept being easy for most abilities to walk. I would not recommend this as a wheelchair accessible path but would say it is fine for families with off road buggies.
There is a café by the car park and plenty of picnic benches and there is a smaller hut selling a mixture of hot and cold beverages along with ice cream and snacks. I bought a Cappuccino and the coffee was really nice costing £3.40. Bottles of water were £1.80. There is also a toilet area and a playground...

There are coloured walkways around the park to follow. A map at the beginning shows the routes. Would suggest you take a picture of this map, as we found that once you get into the forest alot of the signs weren't there and it was a little confusing as there are many path options. Small paths, suitable for buggies with larger wheels. Slightly overgrown in some areas. Suitable for both dogs and children, but be aware in some areas of the walk you're near the road. Lots of parking available but it does cost. You will need cash, or the Pay to Park app. Up to 2 hours £2 Over 2 hours £3. Current prices June...
