Nosterfield Nature Reserve is 150 acres of wet grassland and open water situated between the Rivers Ure and Swale. It is generally regarded as North Yorkshire’s premier wetland grassland. It is excellent for birdwatching, particularly wetland species. There are birdwatching areas and enclosed hides with information boards), connected by a pedestrian walkway which is fully accessible for those with mobility issues. Free to visit. Ample free parking.

Popular with bird watchers, has several well built hides with glass viewing panels. Close to the Northerly Thornborough Henge now managed by English Heritage. See photos. No facilities other than small car park, decent pathways and hides. Has an 'ancient atmosphere '.

A great nature reserve in-between nosterfield and Tanfield unfortunately didn't get to spend as much time as would have liked as stopped of to see the starling murmuration, was a great show and all so got to see a stoat. Definitely be back on my next visit up north
