Located in Port Sunlight just off the New Ferry by pass turn left into Bolton Road East and follow the road to the bottom.Car parking is available although the car park itself is small. There is also a wheelchair accessible car park.It is hard to believe that this was once a landfill site what an amazing transformation. The site itself is perfect for photographers, joggers, dog walkers, cyclists and families. The paths are well maintained and offer great views of the Liverpool skyline from the summit. Many of the famous landmarks can clearly be seen. There is an abundance of benches for people to sit down and a picnic area is available at the summit. There is also a coffee shop but this is currently closed due to the covid pandemic. There is also a lake surrounded with plenty of wildlife.Toilets are also available but again they are currently closed i think due to the covid pandemic. We spent about 40 minutes having a leisurely stroll around. It can be a bit nippy at the summit so warm clothes are advisable.Well worth a visit and well worth...

If you like lovely views across the Mersey from the South Easterly part of the Wirral then River Park is for you.... But they make you work for it in terms of walking. You enter via the road from the end of the New Ferry bypass roundabout and it is a very unassuming entrance, nothing special. We headed left through the gate and started the hike up towards the lake. The lake itself was barely visable through the reeds. Upon going past it and you climb the hill, towards the summit, turn around and the view is amazing. Views from Birkenhead & Wallasey and then across to Port Of Liverpool & then Liverpool and all the way down to Speke. Then the welcome walk DOWN the hill back to the car. It is so peaceful up on the summit and on a nice day could stay up there for hours. Worth the trek for the amazing prize of stunning...

On a sunny day/evening you can beat the views from this place across the Mersey Estuary and across the Wirral to the hills in North Wales! Taking the dogs for a walk there is a real treat for both them and me too, so many pathways to vary our route! You can see and hear so many lovely birds as well it's very peaceful. Look out for some of the colourful meadow flowers too. There are often events held here so make sure you check notice boards for the posters of what's coming up. Beware of the seasonal car park opening hours though as you don't want to get caught out. It's very good news that this wonderful location provides many bins as well for litter and poop bags (and I've even seen free poop bags that you can take in case you've forgotten to bring...

The funny thing about this park is that there are no directions from the main roundabout off the bypass or from Port Sunlight. It's not advertised at all anywhere. The main entrance introduces you to a gas extraction plant that utilises methane gas from what used to be a tip. Not really a great attraction to visitors. A walk down to the front gets you away from this and brings you to the waterfront where you can watch the Mersey go by and watch ships unloading next door site. There's a cafe there that seems rather busy most times we've been past. Then you can walk along the waterfront and back out past the lakes.
