I and three children attended today, £38.00 for a family ticket (additional £3 for animal feed). Bearing in mind their aged between 2 and 5 this review is to inform other parents.
There are a number of positives to Little Owl Farm such as decent range of animals such as meerkats, reindeer etc you can feed. However, in comparison with other establishments in the West-Midlands they can be half the price for a family. Additionally, having paid £3 for animal feed the tiniest amount was actually given in return for this price; disappointing to the children as it limited their interaction with the animals and so a star removed to reflect these issues. Nevertheless, the Little Owl Farm has positives compared to these others which I will cover in due course.
The positives include decent soft play and open space play areas such as bouncing castle type areas and carting area etc for children to burn off energies. The feeding the animals is also a positive and is encouraged at most 'enclosures'. However, the signage at the site was a bit confusing as some suggested feeding was not allowed but other signage said it was permitted.
This could have been easily resolved had there been staff to ask around but I found generally there was a lack of them at the farm, guests are essentially left to make their way around. Because of this finding the loos for three small ones was a bit of a maze with no easily identifiable staff to ask.
In relation to staff i found the few I spoke to polite but some need some further customer service training. Specifically, the young ladies who presented the meerkat talk/show at noon today. With one talking about the creatures in the middle of the enclosure i could hardly hear the speaker as she had no microphone to enhance the presentation. However, it was the second staff member who was allowing a meerkat to be presented up close to visitors then did not show this to all the children around the enclosure. After waiting patiently, I informed this person of the fact they had omitted my children who were we were waiting. Instead of immediately obliging a paying customer, i was told it was somehow it was our fault for not demanding the staff attention. This felt embarrassing and degrading. When further politely requesting if they could assist, begrudgingly they attended and the close up lasted no longer than 5 seconds; for this experience a star is removed. The lack of seating space for the amount of visitors enabled to attend at one time, this was an issue and this left the small café or an ‘indoor’ seating area both of which weren’t very ventilated; keeping COVID in mind.
Not to be harsh as this was decent day out for the kids but particularly because of customer service (or rather lack of) I have felt the need to leave this review and I wont re-visiting any time soon unless...
Read moreChristmas festive time visiting Santa (tinsel tots) - this was the first time with our son (20 month old) visiting Santa and his elves. we attend little owl farm a few times during 2024 summer and had a positive experience each time, so when we found out about there Christmas special we were keen to book. from the moment you enter the building your greeted by enthusiastic Staff who are keen on getting involved and who focus on the Childrens enjoyment throughout the whole period. Santa is very impressive along with the theme of the grotto and toy experience, we was given a gold coin from Santa to take and exchange in the next part, where the children could enjoy the toy village, our son fully enjoyed this and in fact he went back to this five times, all the toys and there's a lot to Choice from are of a high quality that you then trade the gold coin for. I would like to mention these toys are well thought out as well as being on every Childs wish list (from trains- cars - farm tractors - soft toys - even nail art selection ) I feel this would please any child/parent. once this was finished we were able to venture around the park and enjoy all the animal and play areas (please see notice screen upon arrival to see what part/ animal areas are available that day) , in selected areas the elves here entertained the children with dances and snow shows. once done we decided to eat in the café, having hot food ,Jacket potato with cheese, cup's of tea and a child's cheese sandwich, all of this is priced well and tasty.Over all an incredible enjoyable time had by all ,and our son would of made some core memory's, thank you too all the team here at...
Read moreWhat an amazing farm! Loads of different animals to see, beautiful enclosures and lots to do for all ages. We have an Under 1 and she had a blast. The petting area was great and the staff were really informative with answering our questions. I fell in love with the baby animals.
My only criticism would be in the Sheep Race area. We had checked the timetable and made sure we were packed up with lunch and down by the paddock to watch the race! Quite a mission with a little one to do. The race wasn't announced. There was nothing to say it was starting or anything. A member of staff just opened a gate and the sheep ran past and that was it. We overheard a few guests asking amongst themselves if that was the race over. Perhaps having a staff member with a little megaphone building up the hype for the race may just make it a little more exciting and draw people in.
I would also consider having a member of staff near there on busier days as we unfortunately witnessed a group of young lads using your go-karts as bumper cars and crashing into each other (and sometimes other guests) with force before running around and trying to scare the birds. Not the farms fault as there are lots of signs saying children must be supervised.
The entire farm felt clean and fresh and all of the animal looked happy and healthy. The collection of birds was amazing and we really enjoyed the fact we were allowed to feed most of the animals corn or grass pellets. There are PLENTY of hand washing stations and they were all well stocked and had warm water. Amazing attention to detail! Will definitely be...
