5 stars yes but almost gotten mauled by an aggressive dog the person going in ames nowel park had the dog on the leash but I'm guessing that was to make it LQQK good because further in the dog wasn't on the leash if your dog is aggressive you should at have the the dog have the dog on a leash as you had going in that park it's not the dogs fault it's the owners fault and responsibility if something happens just because you wanted that area for yourself you should not have unleashed your dog as I was on the opposite side I noticed the dog was attempting to come across the rocks of the dry brook the dog is obviously aggressive think about it luckily nothing happend because I had to leave that area because the person had no Intent to do anything about the dog or even put the dog on the leash just stare and quietly muttered stop come here the dog had no attention as to what you was softly muttering as you had the dog on the leash going in 7/27/2024 I love animals but if an animal is aggressive be abresponibke person and think of your pet and and others around not your selfish self your far from responsible dog owner very unfair to your dog and others...

Plenty of good trails for hiking and a hidden gem for mountain bikers, especially when you get out on the back side by chestnut street. Trail maps though are outdated with many trails that aren't on the map and many intersecting trails that could really use a marker. Many single track type trails, though many could use maintenance, there's still plenty that are in good shape. The east side of Cleveland pond is mainly for the dog walkers, joggers etc. The west side is where the good trails are for biking and hiking. Some good elevations, plenty of old stone walls, and many trails go up and over large rock formations. There's a good 4.5 - 5 mile loop around Cleveland pond but it's only usable part of the year because the area by Beaver brook gets washed out, sometimes for months at a time. A few footbridges in this area would make the entire park much more usable, but the state doesn't own all the land. Although it's been rumored for a few years they're looking into buying it and incorporating it...

Ames Park is a beautiful park to visit. its tucked away near a residential area and if you are not local, you would not know its here. We were told about it because of our friends we stayed with. The park is very nice and quiet with lots of clean and well maintained trails. the main trail around the entire pond is fantastic and very long. There are lots of tables as well for folks to have picnics and spend time with families. The pond has lots of fish, so there are always people out fishing all around the lake. Lots of...

This was a gorgeous hike and the pup loved every minute of it. The only issue my group had was that we could not hike the perimeter of the lake. The area north was completely washed out and marshy, and we just didn't have the right gear for it. If you want to complete the loop: - don't go right the day after a rainstorm - pants, not shorts (too many thorns) - waterproof boots That said, we enjoyed the park as fully as we could. Wonderful experience with plenty of Geocaching.
