The venue is absolutely beautiful! It was my first choice for venue and the first one we toured and I immediately fell in love. We had our wedding October 2024 and we still get compliments from friends and family about how gorgeous the space was. We had our ceremony outside and reception inside. It perfectly represented the elegant yet rustic theme that I wanted to accomplish. There were plenty of spaces that were perfect for photo opportunities and the ceremony space has concrete throughout the area so you won't have to worry too much about mud if it happens to rain before your event. While that was ideal for the day of I wish they would have a bit better handicap accessibility to get down to the ceremony site. They offer plenty of parking and it is easy to get inside the building, however there is no ramp specifically for wheel chair access besides a shallower hill area off to the side or the guests must wait up by the barn if they can't make it down the hill. Kayla and Scott answered any and all questions I had in the days leading up to the big day which I loved! We added on the day-of coordination package when we booked the venue and we had Anna on our day who did an absolutely wonderful job. She was very professional and managed to keep all of us on track and on time and any questions she did her best to help. It did seem like come day of there may have been some miscommunications between what we had discussed beforehand and what turned out day of but Anna did a wonderful job rolling with everything and making the day a success. It might be ideal to offer meetings with day-of coordinator and bride directly in the future instead of going through channels. The bar packages were ideal and fairly straight forward which was really nice to not have to worry about when it came to the big day. The bartenders were great and seemed to know what they were doing. However, my only wish is that they were dressed a bit less casual for a formal event such as a wedding. While it wasn't too big a deal, it just seemed slightly unprofessional to serve in sweatpants print sweatshirts. The bridal suite was absolutely beautiful and had everything we would need to get ready for the wedding! There was also plenty of lighting so getting ready pictures turned out wonderful! The grooms suite was also very nice and spacious and had games for the boys to play as well as a TV. Unfortunately, the foosball table was missing the ball and the TV wasn't working the day we were there. It also seemed the heat was struggling to keep up in the grooms suite/ reception area when we first got there up until the reception had started (it was a 60 degree high day and a low of 40 degrees.) All in all we loved our time spent here and would recommend to future couples!

After getting engaged in early July 2023, I had a clear vision of my ideal wedding venue. I toured numerous venues in Des Moines, only to feel disappointed and discouraged. Then, while browsing Instagram and searching #iowawedding, I discovered this gem. When I toured the Magnolia Farms, I was overwhelmed with relief and excitement to the point of tears. Magnolia Farms is absolutely stunning. The white interior with hanging lights exudes elegance, and the exterior is perfect for outdoor weddings. I had my ceremony outside and used their charming arbor, which was perfect! Although it was very hot and humid on my special day, the trees around the ceremony area provided excellent shade for all the guests. My groom and I were in the sun, but it was totally worth it :) We had our reception inside, and I loved how beautifully the white interior complimented my decor. It truly was picture-perfect. Magnolia Farms does have an AC unit, but I think adding more units would be beneficial, as it was quite humid inside the barn with only one door open for entry from the ceremony. Kayla was incredible to work with throughout the touring and booking process. Her prompt responses were invaluable, and having a day-of coordinator included with the venue was a huge relief. Although I felt there could have been more communication between the coordinator and the bride, her presence on the day was extremely helpful. She took care of the setup, alleviating our stress about who would handle it and how long it would take. There was also a miscommunication about an additional fee that I only learned about during our 45-day-out meeting. I had discussed not having alcohol at the venue, and the brochure I received mentioned a fee only for using the bar. During our meeting, Kayla informed us about a dry bar fee that we had to pay even if we weren't serving alcohol. Discovering this fee so close to the wedding was definitely a surprise. It would have been helpful to know about this charge upfront, regardless of whether alcohol was involved.

It is impossible to put into words the true beauty of this venue. The day we did our tour, my eyes filled with tears because I just knew that I had to get married here. A year later, I got married in September 2023 & it was the best day of my life thanks to the convenience of everything being in one location. The bridal suite is ADORABLE, the ceremony space is BREATHTAKING, and the reception space is INCREDIBLE!!! I cannot even tell you how important adding on the day of coordinator was. Our special day was 100 degrees, but Kayla made sure we were all taken care of. Kayla was not only amazing with making sure we were comfortable and at ease, but she was a literal superhero throughout our day doing each and everything that she thought would make our day absolutely perfect. She treated us like family and for her, we are forever grateful. Let me tell you... it was beyond what I could have ever imagined. The flexibility and versatility with the different spaces makes for every wedding to be completely personalized and unique. But wait... THERE'S MORE... Magnolia Farms is also DOG FRIENDLY!! Having our dog there was so important to us! I will 110% recommend anyone and everyone looking for a space to host an event to STRONGLY consider Magnolia Farms. I am so glad that we did!

Don't let the beauty of this venue fool you as it is run poorly and you will get what you pay for. I'm not going to sit here and go into detail about every little incident we had throughout the process, but the venue administrator was extremely unhelpful and was nowhere to be found before, during or after the event, once we had already signed agreements.

We arrived to the venue on the day of our wedding to no internet or television. Although the modem was set up, everything was locked and we could not get ahold of anyone for a password. Therefore, the credit card machines and everything else was down as well. The place was dirty and littered with empty beer cans from previous events.

There were multiple times that we would go out to meet up with her and no one would show up. We were also promised that they would pay for the bar then two weeks prior to our wedding they tried to break their own contract and let us know that we needed to pay an extra $900 for alcohol.

There were many, many incidents throughout the process that truly did add to the stress level of my bride's big day and I truly do not appreciate or recommend this place to anyone who can afford a professional venue.

We did get some beautiful photos from this venue but they were nothing that you cannot find anywhere outside of the city in Iowa. Feel free to reach out to me if you would like to see photos or hear more information on why this should not be your selection for your...
