It was real bad I took my boat to the lake when I put in the lawn crew was mowing. My wife and I fished the lake and took a ride up the river when we got back to the lake on the bank by the boat ramp and dock was what looked like a oil slick it had cut grass and foam that foam was white with brown streaks I had no choice. But to go in it it covered the ramp I let my wife out on the dock tied up the boat and got the truck and trailer. I got the boat half way up the ramp stoped to pull the plug and let what ever water out I touched a s cc um line on my boat from the lake. It was oiley and slick. There was no place to ring it off so we went home. When we got home I used dawn to try and get the scum line off the boat I have ashed it two times no good. I took the boat to the car wash for a power washer and brush. It didn't work the scum line did not go a day i got home and called reed Bingham Park and reported it to the park but no manager was available I called Atlanta and talked to the department of natural resorc s I left a message about the problem without park. And waited I got a call after 5 pm from the parks director who apologized for my problems. He said I would hear from DNR and they would follow up Now it's a month and a half later with no contact at all from DNR so I called the park again the director of the park wasn't available so I called back later and talked to him. I told him about what was going on and he said that some DNR people checked the water for the slick unknown when. And I told him it probably went down the dam and down stream he said he would call some one but tried to wash his hands of the problem just like a coward Later that day a DNR game warden showed up he was probably 7 foot tall and intimatede just withhis high and the fact he had d gun We walked over to a treeing my front yard about 7 feet from my bost hand he told me he was there to talk to me. I asked him if he wanted to see the boat that it was right there and he said why he couldn't do any thing about it. Several times there was no smile on his face and finly said that the matter was over and asked me whet I thought I agreed didn't have much I could say he looked angry because he had to make a trip to Lakeland so he left. Without looking at the damage but have me advice to use a harsher chemical to clean it. Why to damage my new boats paint job. I just got the boat from bass pro in Gainesville Florida in April the 2 and Yes I'm mad the state of Georgia has treated me less than a CV citizen I'm 69 years old and they took advantage of my age by sending a law enforcement officer as big as this man was I was intimated into agreeing with him and yes I AM ANGRY for the...

As with almost every state or national park we've ever stayed in, this one is exceptional. Clean, spaced out camp sites, well cared for, etc. In addition there is plenty of natural beauty to be enjoyed. A large lake, plenty of walking trails, and wide open spaces. These places are your tax dollars at work in the best possible way. Amazing treasures at a price that almost anyone can afford.

We spent some time walking the trails and they were splendid. Pets are allowed on the walking trails. If you take your furry friend please also clean up after them. There are an abundance of tortoises that call Reed-Bingham their home. We were alde to see several up close and personal, though we merely enjoyed their presence, took pictures, and respected them by not touching or disturbing them. Keep an eye out for them on roadways, they like to come out and enjoy the sun.

Some state and national parks are rugged and rustic, this park is very modern. The RV sites are large and flat and many have full hookup with 30A electric. There are also sites geared toward tent camping. They had a laundry room which allowed us to do some wash during our stay. Very nice.

With state and national parks the good and the bad are the ability to get a reservation. The good is that it means lots of Americans are out enjoying their shared public land. The bad of course is that it can be hard to find an opening, especially on weekends. For us we were traveling between Indianapolis and Daytona and needed a nice place to park our RV for a few days during the week. They had several openings though only one with full hookup for all of the days we needed. Making the reservation was very simple and the person who helped us was very pleasant.

If you have the time and ability to visit it's a great place. One more nice thing about Reed-Bingham is that it is conveniently located. It's only about ten minutes off the freeway and every possible service is near by. You have the benefit of tranquility and quiet with the convenience of town...

This was a great park to go to for short or long visits. But sadly the park is no longer being maintained as it should, and the website is extremely outdated for what they have available. Many years ago, we had rented Eagle Island and 2 canoes and camped with the family for several days there. We had returned today to do the same. After reserving and renting the island online, we paid for canoe rental in person in cash, and drove around to the other side to start loading gear. Well, there were no canoes. Only kayaks. You can't pack multiple people's camping gear on a kayak. While we were considering alternative methods to transporting gear, we took a kayak to the island, just to be more saddened. The trash cans were full and trash littered around them. One wall of the outhouse had most of the boards missing off it. The place looked like it hadn't been maintained in several months at the minimum. We paddled back to the dock, hopped in the car and drove back to their office 15 minutes before they were set to close. When I asked what happened to all the canoes, they said they no longer had any, to which I responded with surprise :"I specifically asked in person for a canoe rental. Why would you charge me nearly $50 to rent one if you don't even have one? And how are we supposed to transport our camping gear?" They claimed all the canoes had been damaged and they didn't have the funds to replace them, so only kayaks were available, and that the island wasn't being maintained because their boat has been broken down for some time now and they had no way to go out to the island to keep it maintained. Very, very poor management here. Truly heartbreaking being we know what the place used to be. Oh, and they wouldn't refund the cash paid for the canoe rental that they didn't even have, as they claimed the only way was to put the refund on a State Park gift card. I accepted the gift card refund, and plan to use it at another location that is being...
