Belwin is a fantastic opportunity just outside the city to see a real herd of bison feeding and breeding on prairie land. Bring a smile and binoculars for a great experience. Ample, free parking and two observation decks. The deck adjacent to the parking lot has a ramp if you are wheelchair bound. My 87-year-old mom walked from the first deck then along a rough trail to the high observation deck climbing up and down about 65 steps in total. Lots of wild flowers in bloom along the fence line including Queen Ann Lace. Again,...

Breath taking to see Bison back in this area and they even have gophers that clearly are Minnesota's version of prairie dogs but they must have been pushed way out west because I have never seen them. Even if the bison are not there it is fun to see those gophers. I have seen tons of flies here which is normal since bison are such huge animals so be careful of the flies. Better than dealing with...

Belwin Conservatory is a really neat place to come and check out Bison in the Twin Cities area. Be advised, you will not necessarily see the Bison every time. Some times they are grazing in the area you can see from the observatory deck, and sometimes they are out of sight. So you are not guaranteed to see them every time. Some times they are grazing in the area you can see from the observatory deck, and sometimes they are out of sight. So you are not guaranteed to see them every time.
