Nice area to stroll in nature alongside the Cuyahoga River within Akron. As of March 2020 there is still construction in the parking lot, but plenty of parking at BARC. The trail is level packed sand and light gravel; it's good for a hybrid bike or a stroll with the kids and/or dog.
If you're dog lover but not a dog owner it's great! Plenty of dogs to love up and not clean after.
My only complaint is you find a lot of dog poop bags abandoned on or near the trail. I admit there is a lack of conveniently located waste receptacles; however I wish all dog walkers were as responsible as the majority of dog...
Read moreThere's a new memorial in place here which honors the three people who died rescuing others decades ago. When a water main let tons and tons of water loose from the top of the hill, many people and cars were trapped or swept away into the river. Several people jumped into the raging waters to rescue others, and three people lost their lives. There is now a granite memorial with their faces carved into the side with their names.
