I've been going there since 2010. Back then the state ran it. We always tried to stay at cabin #4. The back deck faces the water. Great place to have your morning coffee and afternoon drink. All my pictures are of cabin 4. Except my fishing pictures. There is a dock for each of the cabins to tie your boat up. I've never had any problems with anyone messing with my boat or fishing gear. There are 2 boat ramps. 1 is much better the other. Much more room to maneuver. Sometimes there is a fishing tournament. And it gets crowded at the dock and on the water. My 60 HP aluminum boat was no match for the 300HP bass boats. Some of the bass boat drivers were a complete "A" hole. There's always someone who thinks they are better than you. There is a full kitchen with everything you need. Just bring the food and coffee you need. There is a Piggly Wiggly in town if you forget anything. Also, a bait and gas station on highway 10. Pump your gas, then pay inside. The beds are on the small size (I'm 6-1), but comfortable. All the linen is furnished. We stopped going there in 2015. That's when Alabama decided to close 5 state parks. Funny thing they were all in south Alabama? If you didn't make reservations ahead of time for this park you didn't get a cabin. I made ours 1 year in advanced. Now the park is run by a company. They have added some tiny camping cabins. Great place to take the family! But the price has gone from $55 a night to $125. I miss the old days. I'm the one with the biggest fish. 😁😁😁😁

āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø We recently stayed at this beautiful campsite while escaping Hurricane Milton from Florida, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and immediately felt safe and at home. Jennifer in the front office, along with the entire staff, were incredibly helpful and made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The park itself is stunning, with well-maintained facilities, beautiful scenery, and a peaceful atmosphere. We truly enjoyed every moment—whether it was relaxing by the campfire, exploring the park, or just taking in the natural beauty. Our time here gave us the perfect escape we needed. Thank you to everyone at the campsite for making our stay so wonderful! We can’t wait to come back and highly recommend this park to anyone looking for a five-star camping experience. We’ve got so many great photos and videos to remember our time here!

I was most impressed with the availability, helpfulness, and friendliness of the staff here. Some friends and I rented a cabin for a weekend get-together. The cabin decor is a little dated, however, everything worked and the beds were comfortable. DISHTV was available in our cabin. You must make your own bed with the linens provided. This is a new policy since the first of the year, they say to cut cost. Read the rules and there will be no other surprises. There are some basic necessities and firewood available at the office. We are planning to return for another visit. Update: Made another visit with friends on the 2nd weekend of February 2020. Staff was friendly and helpful. This campground is well tended. Awesome experience!!

Got a cabin for 2 nights here last wknd for my bday. Everything seemed to be okay. First problem you rent the cabin and have to get your own linens and you also have to clean the cabin before you leave. The lady told me about having to get my own linens after I paid. Good thing we didn’t cook here. Secondly I hate any kind of bugs and when I said something to the woman in charge about seeing roaches in the cabin she said there’s nothing that they can do about it. I’ve rented and stayed at plenty of cabins and this by far was the worse. To tell your guest you can’t do anything about a problem when you’re open to the public and people are paying you their hard earned money is just absurd to me. If I pay you and then I have to clean the cabin I may as well keep my money and stay home. The couch was awful it was almost on the floor, the bed was okay besides the fact that we had to spend more money buying linens. There was no extra toilet paper, trash bags or paper towel so I guess when you visit you should take those items as well since you’ll be responsible for cleaning. The road going in to the cabins is bumpy with holes but it looks as if someone tried to fix it. I’d take a bumpy road with holes in it over roaches any day. After the woman in charge responded the way she did I will not rent here again nor will I I recommend...

My wife and I tried to go primitive camping at Roland Cooper this past weekend. I am in a wheelchair and need oxygen constantly. So I chose to be secluded and brought a generator for my equipment and a fan. My wife is 71 yrs old. After the second day, in 90+ degrees heat and no shade we decided the rest of our 5 day vacation was either going to be in a cabin, or we were leaving. My wife went to the office to ask about a cabin. One was avail, so we booked that for the remaining 3 days. We asked since no one was in the camping area could we please take our time afterĀ sunset to remove our tent, cooking stove, etc. Laura in the office said no problem at all. In about 10 minutes Donnie pulls up in a golf cart. He said another man was coming in a truck. When he got there, they were going to pack our things for us and bring everything to the cabin. Paul arrived in 5 minutes, told us not to do anything but tell him how we want things done. He and Donnie took down our tent, packed our things, put our coolers and dry food in their truck. They drove our things to the cabin and brought everything in for us. In 90+ degree heat, and not even being asked. These people saved our vacation, and with me being in a wheelchair, and my wife's age, made our workload very easy. I wrote several reviews, and am writing you. We will be back, but when...
