Subday I attend my 1st NASCAR race; Yellawood 500. I watched the races slot from age 10 to 18.
I always wanted to watch cars race at Talladega Speedway and finally took the time to do so. It was exciting from finish to end.
I recommend getting headset or have your own if sitting near track. We sat near start finish line in Moss Thornton C row 8 seat 3 and 4 Next time I’ll get front row seats because people have a tendency to stand and block view of track. And probably a higher number seat like 10-15.
We (my daughter and I) purchased the Garage Experience which added to the excitement. I think the beverages and food were half priced but still kinda expensive. We paid $19 for 2 pulled pork sandwiches and my daughter had a beer.
Most people in stand had a cooler and/or clear bags with snacks. And some had many snacks! Most drank beer the entire time. But it was a nice crowd and no behavior issues.
We arrived at 8:30am so got a close parking space in free parking. Leaving was horrible because no one direction got traffic in parking areas so cars just bunched up. So no need to hurry to leave. I wish I had stayed to watch presentation of trophy.
The race lasted 3 hours 15 minutes; 188 laps The tram to Garage Experience was mostly trucks pulling benches. You would think they would have actual trams since make so much money. And the lines are very long. We waited maybe 30 minutes.
I highly recommended...
Read moreI recently attended the NASCAR event at Talladega Superspeedway, and while there were some great moments, there were also several disappointments that took away from the overall experience.
On the positive side, the campground atmosphere was fantastic. I had a great time connecting with fellow campers and fans—it’s always a blast being around people who share a passion for racing. The sense of community and camaraderie in the campground made the weekend memorable.
Unfortunately, a few things really dampened the experience. The strict rules and restrictions—especially not being allowed to visit other campground areas—were frustrating and unnecessary. One of the best parts of Talladega has always been the ability to freely connect with friends across the grounds, and that freedom felt lost this year.
The entertainment choices also missed the mark. The excessive hip hop music and the “woke” themes felt out of place for a NASCAR event and didn’t reflect the tradition many of us come for. Most disappointing of all was the national anthem performance—hands down the worst I’ve ever heard at a race. It was completely inappropriate for the occasion, and whoever made that call should seriously reconsider their role in planning.
Talladega has always held a special place in my heart, and I hope future events return to the roots that made it great—freedom, tradition, and a strong sense of racing...
Read moreAtmosphere was wild with excitement. So VERY many people was there, but there was virtually no waiting at any time. Our seats were very easy to find. Great seats row 33, food prices a bit high, but its same way at any major event. Great thing about the food was they allow you to bring your own in a good sized backpack, plus a small cooler ice chest. Unfortunately i got sick, and my husband dis as well, so we left the Great event early and headed home. That was an embarrassing shame, cause the couple, our company from Kentucky bought our tickets, and they stayed. But my husband had crainotmy brain surgery only 3 months before going. Was way to early for him to go to such an event. But he is Nascar all the way, so he and i were bound & determined to go. But it deeply hurt our hearts to not stay! Prayer said before race started was beautiful, then remaining standing for National Anthem with hats off, hands over hearts was so very nice... Sure to go again some day! Jets flying over was MAGNIFICENT.. didnt get close up but proud of...
