Great trail with great views! We had read that the trail is not safe for kids. I think it depends on how well-trained your kids are. Haha! If you don't trust them to not run off or if they have a tendency to not pay attention, then yeah, maybe it's not for them. There are probably 4-5 spots where if you fell off the trail, you'd probably be seriously injured. However, my 10 year old son and I never came close to falling off the trail, so you would have to be VERY careless. Other than that, it does get strenuous at times, so it's not for every skill level, but we did it with no issues. The first half will fool you into thinking it's very easy, so be prepared for the second half (assuming you go counter-clockwise).

Very well marked trail. Starts out easy, gets really challenging, then ends easy. There is a shorter loop and a longer loop. The line loop adds about a mile of moderately challenging trail. Once you loop back around to where the trail split, the trail gets much more challenging. The trail narrows and begins a lot of up and down climbs and switch backs. There are several rock formations where you can sit and rest. The scenery and the views of the lake are beautiful. I will definitely be doing this hike again.

Extremely clean and well marked trail. Some trees were blown over because of recent tornadoes, but trail had still been maintained perfectly. There are some areas that are very steep and narrow, but there are beautiful lookout points and resting areas along the entire trail.

Didn't have much time to do this hike justice - got halfway and had to use the emergency exit trail to head back as we had appointments we had to get to.... it would be nicer if it was a little more open closer to the water. It's dead of winter with hardly any leaves right now - and still difficult to see much of a view. But the hike we did have was easy- trail does need to be groomed a bit and widened in a few areas - as some trees have come down and it's a little tight in places - but I'm sure that will be spring cleaning....looking forward to coming back and hiking...

A very beautiful hike until it just stops on your way up and out of the hike. The trail goes cold and you have to backtrack the way you came.. we did call 911 who sent firefighters out to get us since it is a difficult hike in which the firefighters themselves was coming in the way we were trying to go out and they also stated that the trail ended on their way in and they had to try and find another way in. definitely needs to be more up keep and maintained.. we were the second set of hikers in a week to have...
