On a recent visit to the Tennessee River area, I had the pleasure of discovering the breathtaking Wilson Dam Waterfall. Located near the historic Wilson Dam, this hidden gem offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The waterfall's cascading waters create a mesmerizing display of nature's power and beauty, making it the perfect spot for photography enthusiasts or anyone seeking tranquility. The surrounding area also provides ample opportunities for exploration, whether it's strolling along the Tennessee River or learning about the dam's fascinating history. It's an ideal destination for families, couples, or solo adventurers looking to immerse themselves in the region's...

This was my first visit to this area and the Wilson Dam was a delight to view. Below the dam is a waterfall that can be reached before arriving at the Dam by turning Left onto Rockpile Rd and taking it to the end. Then just a short walk to the Waterfall.

While the waterfall is pipe-fed, it is a full, flowing waterfall in all respects! Plus, there are 3 smaller "falls" or rushes coming out of the same cliff; each photogenic in their own way.

We arrived late in the day, but still were able to grab a few sunset shots as the sun dropped behind the Tennessee River.

Be sure to add this to your agenda when in the Florence/Muscle...

Have to give it 5 stars - due to it's great parking, lots of trees along the walk, the (now) safe waterfall area - all recently constructed, and well maintained. Waterfall on one end, boat ramp on the other - and fishing all in between (with concrete 'park' picnic tables; not sure if there's grills tho). Also - has a fantastic walking trail that goes directly over the stream up top that just a few feet farther than where the trail's walk-bridge is, goes over into the waterfall. All around great spot for a quick visit, some walking exercise - or to spend an entire day...

Dont take the trail. Take the road following the signage to ROCKPILE REC AREA. From here you can drive within a few hundred yards of the falls and walk a paved road the remainder of the way. Very beautiful. I have seen a half dozen falls in N.AL, some very big omes and definitely more popular but this is the most beautiful I have been to. There is a boat ramp, clean restrooms, trails exhibiting old historical structures, falls, an underground aquifer/spring as qell as beautiful views of the Dam and the Tennessee River. Thanks TWA!
