NO BUCKETS NEEDED! They supply plastic bags in buckets for you!
We have never been here before. We live in Alpena so it was a little drive, but well worth it!What a fun place to bring your family! A U-pick blueberry farm! We spent about two hrs there picking blueberries! They have plenty of places to park! There are a couple of places just for photo ops. The offer bottled water for just .50! So after picking all of them blueberries, .50 for bottled water was a no brainer! They also have a canopy tent, to just ait down for a minute to get out of the sun. As soon as you walk up to the gate you see some kitchen equipment...they make homemade blueberry donuts! Unfortunately for us, by the time we got there they were already sold out! So, get there early, to not only get donuts but also to beat the heat!
The Tawas Blueberry Farm offers four different cultivators. NORTHLAND, PATRIOT, EARLYBLUES, and TORO. The Northland were our favorite and the most abundant. They are sweet and the best for your jams, jellies, and desserts! The Toros weren't quite ready for picking. We only grabbed about a half pound of each of the Earlyblues and the Patriot. Not only are their blueberries delicious, it only cost $1.80/lb to pick! Look at the size of some of those blueberries!
When you go pay for your berries, behind the counter they offer some other blueberry goodies as well! I believe chocolate covered blueberries and something else. I even grabbed a sticker, which range $2-3. (I collect stickers from various places we go and stick them...
Read moreWe've been picking blueberries for years, often driving to the West side. We decided to give this place a try since gas prices are outrageous now. So glad to have found Tawas Farm! Nicest picking farm we've ever been to. The place was very busy. They have an enormous parking area but it was pretty full. I really liked all of the well stocked hand sanitizing stations. And they also had porta potties aplenty. There is a tented area where you can sit in the shade and drink your water or the water they sell. They have picking containers or you could bring your own. Don't forget a strap so you can hang your container around your neck. There were plenty of berries on the bushes when we were there. They also were making blueberry donuts and selling them. I'm really impressed with the organization it really was a pleasure to visit. We picked 58 lb in...
Read moreReally disappointed that I planned a trip to this blueberry farm which posts Aug-Sep season, and arrive on August 20 or 21 only to see a sign that says "closed for season". Way too early to close. Very disappointing.
edited to add: I had checked the website to confirm that it was opening August. I did not see any indication that it would potentially close 2 weeks later, which was only 2/3 of the way through August, when it was advertised open August-September. I wasn't rude in my comment, but your response was a bit condescending. No problem. I'll find another blueberry farm. I just had had one decent experience here before so was looking...
