Such a wonderful way to spend a Saturday! Bring lots of carrots, apples, and or bananas to feed the horses. Trust me, you'll want to feed every single horse! Donations are accepted but it is free to enter. They sell cute tshirts at the entrance/exit. Bathrooms are very nice and near the front. You may bring your own food/drink to consume while walking or there are benches throughout. We carry light backpacks with water, sunscreen, and snacks as we like to walk all the paths and are there for a few hours. Almost every area is paved so this is very stroller friendly. They have golf carts and are happy to drop you off/pick you up as desired so even those with less mobility can enjoy the horses and not just be stuck at the very front. Horses here are rescues and retirees. Some have health concerns, missing eyes, etc... so children may have questions. Some cannot have carrots but can have bananas (choking issues) and all who want it will be at the fence waiting for attention even if they don't get fed. The volunteers at the front will explain everything to you upon entry and offer a map. Dogs are not allowed. They are only open on...
Read moreMy family and I made a short hour and a half trip North of Gainesville to the farm. It was fantastic. Plenty of parking, clean, well cared for faculty, friendly staff, organized and clean bathrooms. I recommend bringing water and maybe some small hand held snack for the walk. There are no vending machines or concessions. Bring sun block, a hat, comfortable shoes and hand sanitizer for when your done. We had a stroller for the smaller children as they will get tired at some point. Still, it was a lovely day with mild temps, we had crackers to snack on the stroller was a huge break. The children loved seeing the horses and the information at each stall is informative and insightful. God Bless all the volunteers and please make a donation as you leave for all the work they do. The staff will monitor the paths on ATV vehicles and ensure that everyone's visit is going smoothly. At some point, one even drove by to see if we wanted to purchase more carrots or apples. That was nice. We did bring two big bags of apples and carrots and did the 2.5 mile path. A great activity to appreciate nature and the horses in their natural...
Read moreThis is a wonderful place to get out and connect with nature. Being able to feed and pet the horses and donkeys just feels therapeutic to me. The property is very well maintained. It's a pretty large area...great for walking, but they also offer pick up and drop off rides on extended golf carts throughout the farm. So if you get a little tuckered out, hitch a ride! The horses, donkeys and zorse have ample room, clean water and are very well cared for. No fee for entry either! You can buy large bags of carrots to feed the horses there for $6. You can bring your own apples and bananas too. They have an apple coring table available also. Everyone we've encountered have been friendly. Truly a nice, relaxing outing for the family. The only reason I gave a 4 out of 5 star rating is because it would be nice to have some areas throught the farm where you could rinse your hands off (the apples and especially the bananas) can get extremely sticky and messy. I always bring baby wipes, but nothing beats some good ol' water. I've been here a few times already and will...
