Was looking for something to do on a nice sunny-saharan day. I felt a bit intoxicated of breathing my own air at home so I chose to go out to Blanchard today and spot out a bench to continue studying at.
I drive throughout the entire park, scoping out every site and ended up finding a nice spot with a bench near leg 32. I set my backpack down and started studying. Suuuuper lost in the moment of watching the river past my laptop and an hour later I felt a bit hungry. I reach for my backpack and all hell was broken loose.
Hundreds of ANTS 🐜 looking for nature in the wrong place. I wondered what they were after and then realized, ohh wait, I stuck the Belvita in there didn't I? 😥
I check the side of my bag for the Belvita...and crunch come out another 50 of them!
Anyways, I was able to shake them all. I felt uncomfortable for a few minutes until they all went on their way. I finished what I was doing. Packed my things up and there was still lot of daylight left. So I went and got the car and drove it over to the entrance lot, it seems they close at 8PM and they lock the gate so I parked outside.
I went ahead and walked a good mile and a half up the trail. It was a good hour of pure nature to breathe in and relax with. On the trail, I noticed they have what's called a 'LEG' on the pavement you walk on and they're numbered. I recall seeing 28 and 32 at one moment. They're for emergency services to know you're exact area of need. Very good to know.
Last but not least, I still have lots to explore at the park. I saw bbq grills besides a number of benches. Lots of people fishing, biking, kayaking, I've seen people picnic, flying drones, flying kites, throwing football, playing gatorball, playing soccer, walking and running, jogging, talking, and reading books. Great place to surround yourself in.
Look forward to meeting people and joinging them on...

I recently visited Blanchard Park with the intention of enjoying a nice bike ride, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The park itself offers a pleasant atmosphere for activities such as fishing, picnicking, and relaxing by the river. However, if you're looking to go biking, I would strongly advise against it at the moment.
One major issue that greatly impacted my visit was the closure of a significant portion of the bike path. Apparently, this closure has been in effect for months due to alleged "hurricane damage." While I understand the need for repairs and maintenance, it is incredibly frustrating that such a large section of the bike path remains inaccessible for such an extended period.
As someone who enjoys biking as a form of exercise and recreation, this closure greatly hindered my ability to fully enjoy the park. It's disappointing to see that the management/government has not prioritized the repair of the bike path, especially considering the number of visitors who likely come to the park specifically for biking.
While I acknowledge that the park offers other activities, it's disheartening to have such a limited experience due to the bike path closure. If you're looking for a place to bike, I would recommend exploring other options until the necessary repairs are completed.
Overall, my visit left me feeling unsatisfied and disappointed. Until the bike path is fully accessible, I would caution against visiting this park with biking as your...
