Encinal Beach — Attraction in Alameda

I picked up my friend from the ferry terminal (she came from San Francisco). It was just a short drive to the beach from the terminal. It turned out to be a great beach to sunbathe. There was a long skinny jetty where people can fish or walk.

The water was very calm, and pretty warm (for a March day). It is a good place to bring your water toys (kayaks or canoes). It is pretty shallow—we saw a man walking in the water while using hand weights for exercise. Snorkeling wouldn't be advisable because the water had trash in it.

An interesting little place with a parking lot. It's a funny area to get to but a nice play to chill. Gets crowded with sailing classes but a nice little safe beach to play at. There's a little shower/bathrooms area too where you can hose off or shower off. Also a little ramp area to help you get stuff with wheels down to the beach but there's also a regular boat ramp 30 feet away from the parking lot so.. Good ideas all around.
