Stopped here back in mid-May with my family while staying in Talkeetna. Such a fun stop with delicious birch syrup and birch syrup goodies! The local Sunshine bus will also stop here if you call ahead and ask, which was perfect since we didn't have a car. We came just after harvest season ended, so we didn't get to have a live tour of the syrup making process, but they had a nice video of their process along with tree tapping and syrup collecting items you could view. The tasting was the absolute best part though! Try all the syrups to see which one is your favorite, each syrup has its own unique taste. They have other goodies too you can taste like their birch syrup caramels which are to die for, and other items like Alaskan made teas, soaps, and pottery. They will also ship your goodies home to you, so you don't have to worry about TSA confiscating your precious syrup. The birch water is also nice and refreshing. In the Summer months they have homemade ice cream with a birch syrup flavor. We met the original owners while there who've since retired, and it was neat to talk with the original folks who started it all. Be sure to stop by if in the...
Read moreOur visit to the Birch Sap Farm was truly a delightful experience. The range of products they offer is impressive, including delicious syrups, soothing chaga tea, and delightful birch caramel samples. Each product is crafted with care, highlighting the unique flavors of birch sap.
One of the highlights was watching how the sap is harvested. This process took me back to my childhood in Siberia, evoking warm memories of simpler times. It was fascinating to see the traditional methods used and to learn about the benefits of birch sap.
The kids had a fantastic time as well. They were captivated by the entire experience and enjoyed the various tastings. It's a wonderful place for family visits, combining education and enjoyment seamlessly.
Although we didn't take the guided tour, we heard great things about it from other visitors. The tour provides an in-depth look at the farm's operations and the history of birch sap harvesting. It's definitely something we would consider for...
Read moreOkay for a little gift shop. Pretty straight forward with typical gift store prices. They sell small dishes of "local flavor" ice creams for $6. She let me taste the Fireweed (not sure if ice cream samples are a thing, she seemed reluctant). It had no flavor so I opted to get a dish of Blueberry which also lacked flavor. Nice quick tour, and it was nice to be able to taste most of their products. Spent less than 20 minutes. Would probably just keep an eye out on their website for discounts and deals versus returning for touristy gifts. Random chairs spread out in front lawn, porch didn't appear to be welcoming to uests, so I was confused about this. Maybe they have events or it's meant for women ice cream days. It was near closing time and the kids working seemed eager to get off. It's possible it just wasn't kempt. The main Birchwood syrup tester was out, which was...
