Our stop at Beluga Point was one of the highlights of our trip! As a dad who likes to plan things out, I timed our visit for high tide, hoping we might catch a glimpse of some wildlife—and it paid off big time. We were lucky enough to spot a pod of beluga whales right from the shore!

The kids, who are in high school and middle school, were thrilled. It's not every day you get to see these beautiful creatures so close up, and it made all that planning worth it. The view itself is stunning, with mountains in the background and the water stretching out before you. It’s a great spot to just take a breath and soak in the beauty of Alaska.

We made sure to bring some snacks to enjoy while we watched, and it turned into a perfect little family moment. If you’re headed this way, definitely plan around the tides—it could turn an already beautiful spot into an...

This was a highly recommended point recommended when searching for great views on our way to Seward.

This place has some great views but I think there are multiple points on your way to Seward which are worth a stop.

We visited this place in late June and I am sure this place would be even more beautiful in winter.

On a lucky day, you can witness the beluga whale eating salmon here hence the name.

Please remember:

a) There are railway tracks near the point so be careful. There were many people there, myself included who crosse it to get a better view of the amazing mountain top.

b) Also please be aware of the swamp around and avoid getting down in the mud to get a closer look at all cost since it is very dangerous and you never know the depth of these marshlands specially...

Beluga Point is on Seward highway 15 miles south of Anchorage city limits. It is one of the handful of lookout points along that highway which typically fall on the west side of the highway, which is on the right side going south.

It's a wonderful place to view this unspeakably beautiful part of nature

It is all too easy to pass this and other stops by when going through the area. For non-locals, it's especially important to take time to do this, because it's not necessarily easy to get to this place and this is one of the most awe-inspiring sites that a person could ever witness, so it shouldn't be missed, just to save a few minutes.

Stop. Drink it in. Then stop at the next exit nearby and do it again. It has a centering effect...

If you're looking for a view of the Turnagain Arm and to stretch your legs then Beluga Point is a great stop. No restrooms or water here. There are telescopes for viewing Beluga's, however the Beluga's are not here most of the year. If you see Beluga Whales then you're lucky. Most of the time I see visitors searching for sheep in the Chugach mountains. Be careful crossing the railroad tracks. The Alaska Railroad trains come through here regularly. Don't forget to wave when the train goes by. Beluga Point is surrounded by silt, so be careful walking along the rocks. The silt is like quicksand, so the more you move the more you'll sink.
