Far North Bicentennial Park is one of the largest urban parks in the United States, covering more than 3,000 acres of forests, streams, and open meadows on the northern edge of Anchorage. It offers a remarkable escape into nature while remaining conveniently close to the city, making it ideal for hikers, cyclists, birdwatchers, and photographers.

The park features an extensive network of trails that meander through spruce and birch forests, alongside creeks and small lakes.

These trails provide excellent opportunities for capturing Alaska’s seasonal beauty — from snow-dusted landscapes in winter to vibrant wildflowers and lush greenery in summer, and the warm, golden hues of autumn.

Wildlife is abundant and photogenic: moose, foxes, and a variety of birds can often be observed along the trails, while the quiet ponds and streams offer reflections perfect for landscape photography.

Early mornings or late afternoons bring soft light filtering through the trees, creating a serene and atmospheric setting.

Far North Bicentennial Park combines accessibility, wilderness, and photogenic landscapes, making it a beloved destination for Anchorage residents and visitors alike who wish to experience the natural beauty of Alaska close...

Great year-round groomed trails that feel they're in a remote wilderness. Excellent layout and design. Very large, yet manageable trail system. Can run there for many, many miles, not see the same thing, and still have easy navigation.

There are several off-shoots from the main trail for more adventure once you learn the main trails.

Been riding, skiing, walking, running this trail system for 10+ years and it never gets old.

Only complaints are unavoidable in nature. Potential bear and moose risks.

I've seen the parking lot packed several times, but there's always plenty of space on the trails. They rarely seem to be busy.

Perfect for any skill level. Mostly all flat and the hills are there, but avoidable if...

UPDATE: August 2022, like I said my original review this is a great place to see bears!

ORIGINAL REVIEW: My wife and I jokingly call this beautiful park, bear Central Park or the bear strip. The bear strip joke is due to the fact that locals call this park the airstrip. BLM has a mile long gravel runway which is a popular dog walking area. there is also a whole net work of hiking trails for use in the summer and a net work cross country skiing trails for use in the winter. There are even dog sleding trails! If you’ve never been here take some time to explore but in the summer be alert to the...

We have had the privilege to watch our daughter play baseball here for the last four years. Starting with t-ball. We love the baseball fields. They are always clean, very well kept grass, base lines, bases, bleachers, everything. There is a great group of people behind the scenes making sure this place continues to grow and succeed. I love the feeling of safety it brings over me. There is one way in and everyone knows everyone. It’s easy to let your kid be a kid here , and I appreciate that more than anything.
