What a magical place! I am so glad we found this. Most of the drive from Nome is good on well maintained unpaved roads, but the last mile and a half before you reach the springs is pretty rough terrain. A sedan wouldn't make it, but a good 4x4 SUV or pickup is fine as long as you take the last mile or so very, very slowly and carefully.
The springs are SO peaceful and in truly incredible surroundings. And we want to thank the caretaker Matthew. He showed us around the old orphanage property and we loved his knowledge and enthusiasm.
There's also some cool merch on site, like tee shirts and hoodies, but bring cash, because you can't use a card and there's no cell service.
