Portage Glacier — Attraction in Alaska

It is a cloudy day. I am wondering that I will get for this one hour cruise tour. When the ship make a turn, everybody gets excited. Such a nice and live glacier! It looks like is flowing into the lake (This glacier takes 60 years to flow from mountain top to lake). The tour guide is a national forest staff. She is awesome.

After a cruise ship trip to Alaska, over a decade ago, I always dreamed of seeing the glaciers famous " blue ice", much closer. This company, and Portage glacier, did not disappoint. 1 hour drive from Anchorage. The breathtaking views, staff, and onboard education was wonderful ! If you have a kayak, canoe, or a good pair of hiking boots you can reach Portage Glacier in an hour or two. If you want to see Portage Glacier in less than an hour then you should take the Portage Glacier Cruise. Portage Lake will freeze during the winter, so it's possible to ski to Portage Glacier too. No matter how to get to Portage Glacier it will be worth the journey.
