An astonishing and beautiful place that is as good as any national park, much better than most national parks. This park is mostly in its original wilderness state. It is wild, and it is a great place to visit.
Some areas are difficult to reach without a float plane. You can hike to the northern lakes, but you better know where you're going and be well supplied. You could get yourself in some serious trouble if you do not do both.
There are no roads into this wilderness. However you can travel to many of the parks lakes by use of a boat instead of by float plane.
The water is cold, so be prepared in case you make an unscheduled dip. If you are using a motorized boat it is best to have an outboard water jet motor. Many rivers and streams can be shallow, and the rocky bottoms can destroy a standard propeller.
No generators are allowed. It is wilderness. Other restrictions can be seen at the park's website. Great idea to take bear spray with you that you can buy in Dillingham, to be safe. You cannot bring bear spray on commercial planes.
