This hike could be five stars, except for the darn beaver dam and mosquitos. The views at the top were some of the best views we’ve seen. Absolutely beautiful! The hike itself was also quite enjoyable, but unfortunately, a beaver built a dam that has flooded the trail. It goes about 40 feet across deep mud, 2’ deep in several places. We just picked up walking type sticks, which there are several lying around, and used those for added balance and to try and feel around for shallow or solid places to step. We all had on 25% Deet, and we were swarmed by mosquitoes almost the entire trail. That said, the views at the top are worth the mosquitoes, but that dam is not something I would want to do again.

I found Albany Mountain Trail during my stay in Woodstock, Maine as I was looking for a trail. In my opinion, the trail is not intermediate, but definitely not an easy one (so, in between intermediate and easy). The trail is finely marked and no hard climbing, but expect inclination for most the walk. It took me 2h15m to finish the trail out and back with a couple of short stops. Overall, a strenuous yet reward trail when you reach the summit of the mountain.

Very well maintained path. Summit is a 10 min walk from what feels like should be the summit. You have to hike on flat ground and wind around a bit before reaching your destination. Worth the extra time. You get a great view of the water and beautiful crisp Maine air. Love it. Great little to medium difficulty hike.

I very much enjoyed this trail! Easy to find, plenty of parking. Generally well marked. There is a spot where you turn right towards the beaver dam where it looked as it if may split (at the very beginning of the trail), make sure to go across the beaver pond. I tried to put a log to dissuade people from the other path.

The trail had some inclines that may be considered challenging for some. Rocks, roots, stumps, and mud. Little creeks. It is about 1.5 miles up on Crocker pond road trail, and then about half a mile up to the peak (Albany mountain trail.) I believe to actually get to the awesome overlook, it is a little further than the .5 mile. Altogether is is about 4-5 miles or so, in and back.

Dogs may be under voice control in areas that aren't campgrounds or trail heads. No restrooms at...

Attended a Wedding of close friends in Bethel and looked for a hike on the day of their wedding, not to far away and a short hike. What an excellent hike as the trail is exceptionally well cared for. We actually ran into the trail keeper hard at work and thanked him for his great work. The trail is marked well but not overly marked so still fun following the markers. A steep ascent to get to the summit, great collection of hardwood and softwood forest along with native plants. Exceptional view just beyond the summit, if your in the area go for it a great...
