Great hike for this area. Not many mountains to climb that are close by and this one suffices for average views and nice moderate hike. I highly recommend doing the Appalachian trail from the skyline trail to hawk mountain road. The viewpoints are nice and plentiful and provides nice spots for peace and quiet or a good lunch. It is unfortunate that you cannot park here for a sunrise or sunset hike. Also $10 is a bit steep for this hike but again, there aren't really many better options nearby

This really is a great nature sanctuary and they do a fantastic job educating people about Raptors. I would caution folks though that some of the trails are quite strenuous and can be dangerous due to the extremely large Boulders and rocks you need to navigate around and over. I also made the mistake of going on a weekend. Too many people for my tastes.

The sanctuary is a prime location for the viewing of kettling and migrating raptors with an average of 20,000 hawks, eagles and falcons passing the lookouts during the late summer and fall every year.

Great place for a hike. Some of the trails are more like rock climbing and a little scary, so be prepared. The weekends can get pretty busy, but the trails are pretty quiet, especially as you get further out. There's a $10 fee per person to use the park, paid for at the visitor's center. It's a unique model that I've never seen before at other parks across the country,...
