Nice marina, great views, clean facilities, and decent food. However, drove my family 15 miles by boat to eat there on a Friday night with a hungry toddler only to be turned away. To our surprise, the restaurant closes at 7 (on Friday and Saturday). The restaurant was fairly crowded and even though we arrived at 6:30, were told they were "closed". We pleaded but were told "we should respect the chef's decision". Needless to say, we were furious. Despite our first experience we decided to give it another try on Saturday due to all of the raving reviews. We arrived at 5:30 this time and had a 15 minute wait. After being sat, it took 15-20 minutes before we were able to place our food order. Once we were able to order, we were told they were out of pork which is featured in multiple dishes. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time as several of us had picked out items with pulled pork. We were specifically told we couldn't get the nachos which was what I had picked out. A few minutes later the table next to us gets a huge plate of nachos with chicken, would've also been nice to know subbing chicken was an option. Once we finally ordered, food took 25-30 minutes. It was almost 7 when we left and of course they were still seating people, go figure. If you're new to the lake, I recommend sulfur creek. Their food isn't as good but service is top notch and they have a much better beer selection.

Beautiful marina on an amazing lake. One of the biggest on the entire lake definitely the biggest on that side of the lake. I have been visiting it for over 40 years (my family twice as long) since it was a tiny little marina. It Has houseboat rentals, boat, jerky, pontoon, and equipment rentals. Generally booked up better far out unless you just need it for a day. Also has cabin rental (which we will be staying in for the first time in august. Also sells gas and bait and a small amount of fishing equipment (which has been building more and more each year. Staff is knowledgeable and easy to find. Best part is the icecream available between the restaurant and the marina. Love sitting outside on the rockers watching the sun set eating ice cream with the family. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the lake.

Best vacation ever! We had 12 of us. There was plenty of room. The beds were very comfortable - waterproof cover wasn't a bother. While they have pillows, they have vinyl covers on them (which is good), you may want to bring your own. The staff were SO NICE. The whole process was easy and enjoyable. Only things missing - a squeegee for the top deck, lights for the top deck (just a string of Xmas lights would do), hooks in the bedrooms and bathroom, and maybe a few shelves in the bedrooms. We had good weather - just missed a big storm luckily. The bugs weren't bad at all. Hardly any mosquitos somehow. A+ all around!

Spent a 4 day stretch down at Dale Hollow Lake over the past week..stayed at Sunset Marina & Resort on the Obey River. I have to say that after all the different lakes down south, cabins, cottages, camp sites etc that I've stayed at over the past 40 years, I have to say this by far was the best place I've experienced. Incredibly clean, organized and super comfortable....Just to put it in perspective, with the endless docking (covered & uncovered) facilities, I did not see one warped, broken or missing board through out...things like tie offs, electric, parking, security, etc was noticeably well maintained. All of the markings, stenciled slot numbers, etc were fresh and clear...These are little things but collectively they are huge and makes it great for people who appreciate a well managed and run facility. Prices for cabins and covered boat slots was reasonable and relative to other places we've stayed...THere were 8 of use and collectively we spent hundreds of dollars on lodging, fuel, food ect and had in excess of $200K in boats and equipment so having such a good place to call home base was very great. I don't mind spending some hard earned $$ at a a place where you know they are spending it on making sure your stay is a good one. Hats off to the entire staff. Sunset is just under a 4hr drive from Cincy and I would highly recommend it for Dale Hollow. They have houseboat , jet ski's and pontoon rentals, good restaurant and great cabins etc. Just felt it worth sharing some thoughts on this place given how much we enjoyed our 'guys time' down on the lake!! Thx Pat Manuel for getting us set up - we had a great time! Been on this lake multiple times over the years but first time staying at SUnset...Great family friendly atmosphere. To keep my feedback balanced, the one thing that I noticed that could have been better is the selection of fishing lures. We were pretty serious about our bass fishing and when we needed add to our boxes, selection was very limited - we survived and still caught some nice fish so all in all, not a big deal. Thx and see...

Sadly I don’t recommend this company for houseboat rentals. Our trip started out rough as they told us our boat was would be ready in “just a few minutes” we unloaded. Only to wait over an hour in 90+temps. After our ice all melted (we bought 4 20# bags) we were able to load. We got little and poor instructions and sent on our way. Our generator (that only lasted 3 of the 4 days we were out) wouldn’t stay running. A guy came out but it still wasn’t fixed. Thankfully one in our own party was able to fix it to keep it running. After 2 days in we had to go back and move our cars because staff told us to park in the wrong area. My biggest recommendation is that if you have children under 12 DO NOT RENT one of these boats. I had my grands who are 5 & 7 and I simply could not let them out of my sight even with floaties on on deck. The railings are unsafe, no marine gates, missing bolts, steep stairs, broken chairs. Don’t even think about taking littles on the top deck. They could slip right under the railing. After a nasty encounter with Tom, avoid dealing with him, they did send out 2 very nice and knowledgeable young men who walked through and heard our concerns. They came back and put a few bolts in the railing and put up a new cable to replace the frayed one. I hope for their sakes they take our words as constructive criticism and make the safety corrections or I fear they will have some nasty accidents on their hands. There were no tank meters or gps on the boat we had. One other note, and had I known this I seriously would have gone with another company (This wasn’t our first houseboat rental), you cannot flush your tp. Gotta throw it in...
