As a wine fanatic I am blessed with 2 great wineries with in walking distance of my house. Mount Salem is not a commercial winery, it is where you go to pair wine with excellent food in a charming farm house with friendly people. The wines are not typical varietals you come across but are thoughtfully grown based on the terroir of New Jersey (Typical to Austria & German alps of the old world). The reserves under the Leitner label are excellent. I liked the Matthias which is a blend. Personally: I had a great time though. The space is private and tucked away at the top of the barn. Feels like what I imagined it would: rustic. Upon entering the quaint farmhouse, we were immediately greeted and provided with seats at a rustic table by a cozy fire. Our wine ambassador was fantastic!
